Charging it now Det left inside light on overnight and it was down to abt 5 volts this am,, had to charge it on the hot post under the hood in order to get the back open,,, actually later went thru the back seat and found the mechanical opener for the rear hatch. let you kn if charging works, cant believe its gone in 1.5 yrs.
Cobra, just for our education, was it a single interior light left on or multiple, from a door left open or the switch on the two front lights turned on, resulting in two lights on all night. Our Odyssey has a two year old Honda battery that has had a hard discharge one time and last week my wife left the master switch on all night, resulting in 7 interior dome lights burning all night, for around 9 hours. I was shocked when it started on its own, with no discernible slowness of the starter motor. I wish I would have thought to put a meter on the battery before starting it just to see what the volts read.
I recently purchased a 2005 Prius and checking the voltage on the battery I decided to replace the 12v battery.I called the stealer and they quoted $201 then when trying to get them to drop the price they came back with $166 plus tax and installation. I opted to get mine from elearnaid for $170 no taxes and free shipping . I got the Optima yellow top with the Prius conversion kit. and installed it myself. Took less than an hour.Hoping to get 8-10yrs out of it. Oh yeah and I ordered it on Monday afternoon and had the battery delivered Wednesday afternoon from California to Atlanta Ga.in less than 48 hrs.
The overhead sw was to on pos. and i suspect the accessory was left on by someone also. i was so surprised to see it dead i didnt evaluate the situation as i should have currently its holding 12.8 volts at the hot term under the hood after sitting this pm ,,, after charging several hours yesterday. hopefully no long term damage.
If the Prius is left in Accessory mode, it will shut itself off after 1 hour. Unfortunately, the Prius will not shut down dome lights left on, unlike some other cars,
Did anyone buy an Optima and get it installed by the dealer? I am too afraid to do it myself since I have no experience in these things.
One poster on this thread http://priuschat.com/forums/gen-iii...tima-ds46b24r-prius-specific-12v-battery.html had a Toyota dealer install an Optima. I think any competent auto repair shop should be able to do it for you in 10 or 15 minutes.
