Filled up at 400 miles. Averaged 40.1 mpg. Lots of freeway miles.

Quite a significant improvement over what I was used to with my 2003 Toyota Matrix. Love it.

Just to add a few details to my previous post:

This trip was 30 miles from Westchester County north of New York City to Bergen County in NJ: NY State Thruway, Sawmill Parkway and over the George Washington Bridge. On most roads around NYC, you just can't go very fast even at the best of times since the roads have many sharp curves and gradients.

I drove as I usually do: non-agressive but keeping up with the traffic.

Car was almost entirely in Eco mode except for a short bit where I merge on to the Cross County Parkway in Yonkers.

I think beating EPA will not be a problem in this car at all in urban areas. As usbseawolf2000 said earlier, the Prius loves congestion.

I filled up our new v for the first time yesterday. The mileage had been down to 35.1 after many <5 mile trips and one 90 mile. We took the 90 mi trip again and when I stopped on the way home and filled up mileage was shown as 38.6 for the the tank. By the time we were home, it was at 43.6 so far on this tank. The dealer was supposed to furnish a full tank, but when we drove out it was one pip below full so I couldn't check mileage with a pencil. Weather has been mid 40's - low 50's dry during the day. We have both been trying to not do the jack rabbit starts and fast stops like bad habits were. Never will be hypermilers as they say. Very pleased thus far.

I have started tracking fuel consumption of my Prius v on fuelly: Silver Prius v (Toyota Prius) | Fuelly

I really did not have to fill up gas since the gas gauge was showing half tank even after 320 miles. In any case, the fuel consumption for the first tank supplied by the dealer is 49.29.

Just had my second fill up this morning. first tank got me 45.7mpg and the second tank was 44.4mpg. Much better than the 23mpg I got on the CRV.

...great I know the territory quite well. Probably good roads for MPG, better than if you were going 70 mph on the open highways in VA etc where they have marked up the speed limits.

I'm tracking mine of Fuelly too. I have only filled up once (first was the dealer fill up which was way off) so the average is only 41.5 Actual mileage on the fill up was 45.6 over 332 miles.

After more fillups the average will go up significantly.

Your statistics are on the money....I work for Interstate Toyota in Monsey, NY and was able to drive the new 2012 PriusV for several days...under similar driving conditions I was actually able to get approx. 48mpg highway.....no A/C on and driving comfortably between 56-60mph. As a point of interest we are having a PriusV launch Event party here at the dealership on Monday Nov. 21st between 5-8PM....located at 411 Rt. 59, Monsey, NY 10952. Open to all!!

    Thanks,

    Ron

It is cold in Seattle with winter gas but so far I have 43.7 miles to a gallon. I have yet to fill my tank up I have driven 189 miles. I live out in the country and go up and down hills all day. I took a picture of the odometer display but not sure how to post it in here. My average speed is very slow like 30 miles per hour I drive in a curvy hilly area from my house to the ferry boat and my house to my sons school.

How do you add Fuelly to your Priuschat? I just joined Fuelly but I have not put gas in my car yet.

This is odd. We bought our vee in LA and stuck around for two days before driving 400 miles back to AZ. Averaged 35.5 mpg for the first 477 miles (mid 70 temps, regular gas, 98% highway driving).

Since we've returned to AZ, we've only put 165 miles on it but have averaged just over 46 mpg (mid 70s temp, regular gas, mostly 45 mph driving with usual suburban traffic lights). Part of the explanation for current better mpg is that I started using "Eco" mode after we returned to AZ, but I don't think that would have made any difference on the highway jaunt from LA.

    Anyway, I like 46 mpg!

Just got our first tank of gas, one day shy of two weeks after purchase. We've used mostly ECO mode, about half highway and half city/traffic. We went approximately 390 miles and the fill up was only 8.8 US gallons! That translated to only $32.xx at the pump! I haven't had such a cheap fill up since the mid 2000s. By my calculations it was 44mpg, the trip computer stated 45.1mpg. I am freaking thrilled right now!

After 2300 miles, eco mode, moderatetly hilly terrain, approx. 700 miles @ interstate speeds. MPG is 46.6 displayed, 45.3 calculated. Still above EPA rating.

I'm happy to see posts of people getting above EPA ratings. I was worried we would see a lot of <35mpg results.

I was too! So far, all the news/feedback is encouraging!!

I think we're going to spring for a 5 once we find one at the right price. So far, at least one dealer has the right price, just not the right color, yet. I'd prefer to buy from the dealer a mile away from me instead of having to find someone to drive me 35 miles, but, to save a couple thousand, I'll do what's necessary.

There is no such thing as cold in Seattle. Winter gas, yes, and cooler temps that affect mileage a bit, but for cold, come to the midwest: Dakotas, Minnesota, Wisconsin!

We are getting 33 mpg after about 200 miles. This is all city driving in cold weather and all trips of less than 5 miles.

I have an iphone app that has been keeping track on the mpg and I have been watching the mpg on the Prius v. Now that I have over a 1,000 miles (local driving, communiting 40 miles to work each way and a long 450 mile trip to West Virginia)-- this is what I get.

Average mpg on the high way (in traffic and not, over hills and straight aways) is about 40 mpg.

Average mpg on the street (rush hour or not) is about 44mpg.

Just like the sticker said. And pretty much close to what the average mpg meter read on the dashboard.

Computer displays 44 MPG, cal 41 MPG. Driven normal, cold temps, with bun warmers on.

Very happy with MPGs, love to buy less gas.
