DeanFL, great step-by-step instructions and photos. Thanks!

For those that don't need/want to remove the back panel like you did for the camera install, they can combine NoMoShock's technique
    Poor Man's Toyota Badge Mod
for removing the rear badge with your technique for changing the background.

Time for you to darken up your lights:

I wonder if anyone has done this to a prius. I'd love to see how it would look. I might do it.

And btw, I'd love to see a pic of yours with the dark hubcaps.

And of course someone on here has pics! Check it out:

If I ever get the courage, or bored with the plain black, to pull a mold from my spoiler, I'd like to make a carbon fiber unit, but I still really like the black on silver of my car.

it would also be kinda sick to load up the inside with LEDs so the whole thing glows with the brake lights.

Nice work. I'd like to give it a try. How did you remove the back hatch inner panel?

    Thanks Dean!

I just finished doing mine as well, I must have missed your post!

I had a difficult time getting the weather stripping to cooperate with me when replacing the outside panel, the weather strip should go over the panel which is tough to do. I used blue painters tape to help. It's tough to tell by the picture.

I included an image of the rear without the logo, unfortunately, it doesn't look good without something behind it. That large hole in the middle top shows does not get covered up by the plastic logo.
Also included a pic of my front logo replaced! I just put the carbon fiber film over the black logo holder. I wanted to keep the original inserts intact in case I wanted them for something later.

I used a credit card for the back one and it came of easily. There was a thread on it somewhere explaining the tab directions and which way to push... I can't remember off hand. I bought the carbon fiber samples off of Ebay for just a couple bucks. Did you use a clear cover piece over the carbon fiber? It looks shiny.

Thanks for the great idea - really digging the look!!!

I applied the 3M decal - preferred the matte appearance as opposed to other options. Hoping the product is UV resistant - time will tell. If not, very easy to re-apply.

image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg Very useful info here though it's an old thread. I was able to remove the rear emblem without any disassembly, just a thin plastic trim tool so it was easier than expected.

I also used the same or similar $4 carbon fiber like vinyl from Amazon, adhesive on the back and easy to trim (just traced the blue and black plate onto the paper back of the vinyl material) and cut with a razor.

Turned out so well even my wife prefers it to the blue.
