Has anyone noticed how easily the driver headrest for 2011 GEN III moves up out of its set position with almost with no resistance? Is this a safety concern? Or is it part of the design to prevent whiplash? I read on a Technical Service Bulletin of a complaint by a driver with the headrest popping up while driving over a bumpy road. Is this going to be addressed by a recall? At what point does Toyota determine it is worth fixing? Thanks.
Haven't noticed because my driver headrest is all the way up and it won't come out unless released. Passenger headrest is mostly down and has not come up by itself. I'll keep an eye on it. thx.
Yes! Every morning when I get in my car and put on my seatbelt, the headrest pops all the way up on its own just by leaning slightly back in the driver's seat. I have a 2010 Prius IV package. Don't know if I should be concerned about driving with the headrest elevated though.
Go to page 79 of your owners manual. There you will find that the headrests are -designed- to do that so in a rear collision they pop up and protect you. It further states that yes, they will move up very easily. It's not a fault.
