Alright so I want to get a Prius and have been offered a deal by a local dealership and want to know if this is a good price? 2010 Toyota Prius II with 32,000 miles for $19,500 the sticker asking price is $20,500. Now the kicker is they are going to give me $7,500 for my 2004 Buick Rendezvous with 76,000 miles. My car blue books privately for this price. Any advice you guys could give me would be greatly appreciated.
Doesn't Sound Good to me. Why not sell your old car yourself and get a better deal or buy a new 2011 2.
what is the bluebook retail on the prius? carolyn just bought an eleven for 21+K but will they give you the same trade value?
Blue book is 20,500 and I have not found a place that will give me $7500 for my car. Privately my car is only worth $7500
Ask what they will give you for a New Prius. Could the difference be Only 1K? Seems Like a No - Brain-er to me. But Good Luck to you whatever you decide. Owning a Prius is the real win here :cheer2:
This is not a Toyota dealership it is a chevy/Buick dealership so unfortunately a new prius would not be an option. I have called the local toyota dealership and they will not budge on the sticker price.
Actually? I'm going to go somewhat against the grain here and say that doesn't sound like too bad a deal, especially if you factor in that they are enticing you by offering more than your trade in is worth. The real problem is "right now" in a lot of locations, with the soon to be arriving 2012's, you can get pretty good deals on remaining 2011's. Which makes the advantage gap, of buying a used 2010 vs. New 2011 much smaller. I'd investigate how easily or the difference it would take to get into a new 2011. Given what I would guess might be a pretty small difference, in my opinion it's nice to have a vehicle inwhich you know the history from almost the very beginning, and have the warranty starting from day Zero. Once the 2011's are gone, the 2012's arrive and in the upcoming year with the Plug In Prius, Prius c....I expect Prius prices to increase. Right now, I think is a good time to get a Prius. I wouldn't necessarily abandon the deal you are looking at...but I would certainly investigate the cost and possibility of getting a new 2011 Prius. PS. Just read your post: Winter coming in Wisconsin? 2012's to arrive shortly. If your local dealer won't budge on sticker price...try another dealer.
i agree with e.m., if they are selling below book and buying above, and it's the best deal you have found, it's a no brainer.
Yeah none of the dealerships I have called in central Wisconsin have been willing to budge on prices which kind of sucks.
So I talked the dealership down $500 to 19000 and can get a 5 year loan at 2.8% so i think im gonna pull the trigger on friday and be the proud owner of a 2010 prius!
Basic due dilligence. Have you checked a Carfax? (Yes those that hate Carfax can tell me they don't catch everything) BUT I'd still want one run. I'd also have it checked out at a independent Toyota dealership. It will cost you money BUT if they uncover anything it could save you a LOT of money and pain. If the selling Chevy/Buick dealership won't let you have it checked out? I'd be suspicious. Chevy/Buick doesn't even sell a hybrid. They can "say" they checked it out...but what do they know about HSD?
yes i looked at the car fax and everything checks out how much does it cost for a toyota dealership to check it out?
