Raza, I understand your concern and it's a valid concern but at the same time, I believe there are regional differences that allow a Prius owner to proudly display their pride of owning a Prius. Some areas of the country are more tolerant than others.

Why don't both of you agree to disagree?

NOTE: THIS IS NOT A SOLICITATION

Now, wait a minute, RaZa. I was actually encouraging you in order to help you nurture and boost your PRIUS self-esteem. If you drive a car that gets 2-3x the MPG of 90% of the cars on the road and is 90% cleaner, well then, you blend out. Blending out is a good thing.

You first state, like it is a fact, that "Prius drivers have been known to be (or at least appear to be) conceited, haughty, pompous, take your pick." I wonder what the PRIUS drivers here would think of that statment.

Then you say "appear to be". So which is it? It can't be both.

Then you say "that is the perception by much of the non-prius public." So, how do you know that? Can you show us some reference for this? Do you speak for the non-prius public? It seems to me that you are trying to pass off your opinion as a fact.

You see, RaZa, you are making much too much of this. It is just a car, and we are all your friends here.

You can have a bumper sticker or not have one. I am OK with either of your choices. Otherwise, Tideland, it looks like we will just have to disagree to agree. :fencing:

    OK, RaZa, you win.

But, let me ask you this, if you don't mind: I think it is cool that you have a 2012. Did they just recently become available? Which model do you have? How long did you have to wait after you ordered one?

Prius313, does the 313 in your username refer to the area code in which you live in?

I seem to get less bullying in my Fit than in the Prius; whether that's true or just my perception I don't know. I think I drive both cars about the same, though.

As a few other people have said, if you read the site it's just a massive amount of magnet links to Prius articles all over the place. The kicker... some of them praise the Prius!

On top of that some of them are so unique that it's about the DRIVER and not the Prius.

Self preservation is the most important thing.
If its on a freeway, slow right down so that if they were to run up the back of you, the damage to you would be minimal. I have slowed from 100km (62MPH) to 40km (25MPH) on a freeway plenty of times.
If they play 'chicken' with you on the freeway, call the cops while its happening & make them to come to your current location. Make sure you state the situation is FAR WORSE than it actually is (a pedestrian was nearly killed!!, its a stolen car!!, etc), otherwise they will treat it as unimportant.

When I had driver training 45 years ago in California, they did things different then.

Car dealers supplied the schools with new training cars ... at least once a year (good advertising). Among the cars we got ( in the '60s) was a new Dodge Charger R/T Magnum 440.

There was no charge to take driver training ... it was required by law.

I had a week in the classroom and then a couple of weeks in the car with 2 other students and the teacher. We each had to log at least 20 hours behind the wheel, starting with country roads and moving up to city driving. Our final exam was a 50 mile drive.

We were taught the two second rule for distance from the car in front. We also were taught that there are 3 different rules for your speed.

    1. The posted speed. This is your starting point.
    2. The weather. If the weather is bad, you slow down.
    3. The flow of traffic. Unless you want a ticket, you run with the flow of traffic. This meant that even if you were doing the speed limit but everyone else was going 10 or 15 over, you could get a ticket for being a traffic hazard or obstructing traffic.

My kids got training in the cheapest cars the school could afford to buy. They got a few hours in a parking lot and ONE short drive on a real road.

I hear that driver training is not mandated any more and it costs a lot of money.

I don't know what Oz police may do, but beware that elsewhere, serious over-reporting can be treated as false reporting.

had a big diesel that could not wait to pass me today...and of course he left a big cloud of black smoke behind him as he romped onto his gas pedal. My guess is he used more diesel in that single motion than I did in gas my entire trip that day. Sooner or later...they will come to terms with reality.
