Although I am a long time lurker, I registered today to share a terrible experience when trying to order a plug-in with delivery at Toyota Rancho Santa Margarita, CA. I placed and confirmed the order for my plug-in with advanced trim on Thursday morning. I missed the dealer's call and and returned it on Friday. I left a VM. From then on the dealer was MIA. I got no call back. I checked in and realized my order has now been cancelled. When I called to follow up, the sales manager actually laughed at me on the phone. I guess they don't need the business. This would have been my second prius purchased at that dealer. I'll be placing a new order at Carson Toyota through the referral program. (Thanks Danny!)
Glad it sounds like it's going to work out for you despite your negative experience. I guess my only thought is I wonder how someone rises to the title of "Sales Manager" with such a horrible attitude. A repeat customer, who obviously wants to purchase an expensive vehicle with you and you laugh at them? Well sometimes it's advantageous to know who you DON'T want to deal with...
Ready, WoW, I Feel your pain. Seems like there are 2 kinds of dealers. High Volume - Low Service and Low Volume High Service.
Sorry about your experience with them. Sounds like us when we went to get the Volt.. First dealer was total crap, and did not take seriously (high volume dealer).. Drove 40 miles away to a low volume dealer I never heard of and got excellent service! Heck got about 3 free tanks of gas in our Prius from them due to small paperwork errors on their part (Ally is apparently very picky).. Glad to hear you found a good dealer in the end though.
RSM Toyota is a total bait switch dealer. There internet ads are all fake! I followed up with a phone call complaint to the Attorney Generals Office in CA. I hope that sales manager gets fired!!:juggle:
This happened to me too. At least the sales people didn't laugh. They were absolutely clueless about the event, though, so I felt like I was in some strange alternate universe while I was trying to get them to understand what I was talking about. It's frustrating when the customers have a better understanding about the process than the dealer does. Luckily for those of us here at PriusChat, we know that Dianne can help when other dealers can't.
lucky for those of us who live in california. but i should give a plug to ben koller at acton toyota in mass (priuschat certified). when i wasn't getting anywhere with bernardi, he offered to take over the process and was very helpful and knowledgeable about the process. i wish i lived closer to them. an hour in new england is like a day in california.
