The dealer I pick up the car would not do it, saying it is for safety reason.

Another dealer wants $60 to do in service.

Anyone knows if I can do this myself?

If it's like the 3rd Gen Prius it cannot be done yourself unless you own a Scanguage. The dealer should be able to do it and most have done it for people no charge. Is there any more you could contact? Maybe call the Toyota customer experience center and tell them how one dealership is unwilling to do it for 'safety' reasons. That's not an excuse IMO.

They SHOULD change it to one beep for safety reasons. I can't hear anything when I am backing up. It is the number one thing I do not like about my v.

Yea. Probably best thing is to contact Toyota customer care. It should be free and they should have no issue with doing it.

There might even be something in your manual, but I am not sure.

My experience in So. California says that dealers will charge to change the beep and $60 is less than either of the two dealers I contacted will charge. I've decided to buy a scanguage. The savings on setting the beep will pay over half the cost of the guage. :(

If I buy a scan guage, where do I find the instruction to make the change.

I guess I can also change the smart key to unlock all doors (not just driver's side door by default), right?

If you let us know where you live, perhaps someone with an scangauge can help you out.

You should be able to adjust the door locks yourself... there is a sequence of steps to do that (at least with a GenIII Prius). Will search for thread.

    [edit] here it is.

For great technical info start with 2010 Prius ScanGuage II forum here:
    priuschat.com/forums/gen-iii-2010-prius-technical-discussion/64406-scangaugeii-work-2010-a.html

We will have to verify what ScanGuage codes work on the Prius v.

I will personally verify that the Reverse Beep Query and Reverse Beep Disable codes worked on my v.
