I thought there were 5000 cars available (as per Dianne @ Carson Toyota). Thus, they may only be 1/2 way done now!

 

Toyota must order traction batteries well ahead of time as they take a while to produce. They ordered enough for 50,000 for world wide production of the PiP in the first year. They then ALLOCATED 15,000 to North America for the first year. Dianne suggested that 5000 of these might be set aside for the Priority Order system. Dianne does not claim to speak for Toyota.

Toyota has made no other announcements on this subject.

 

Well, she does have to make it sound hard to get... what salesperson selling anything doesn't do that. Less push for bargaining by the customer that way.

Her prediction will come true, not because Toyota is setting aside 10,000 for dealer allocation. It's because it looks like maybe only 5000 people will preorder if that.

I'm sure once word gets out next year that you can get the Green HOV sticker in CA, more people will buy then there's the people who didn't know to preregister that want to buy, so selling 15,000 shouldn't be too hard.

But demand is way less than what the buzz here was like.

I'm not sure what your question means, but as I am looking more into this, if it is just the last 4 digits, mine is 2828 -
for some reason I thought it was the whole number, if it were that, then that would mean over 39 million orders were placed, so I am figuring it must just be the last 4 digits???

hahaha- I said that because i just wasn't sure if my number was as high as i had thought it was- over 39 million - then I thought maybe it was a glitch, but at least it let me select a dealer! (one dealer I called and chatted with told me he thought the window to pre-order had already closed)
LOL- the number that I hope it is now seems way better than 39 million!

Put my order in on Thursday. Dealer took the full 4 days to get back with me.
