Just bought a V3 way under MSRP!

    A great deal!! That we are able to purchase a car that has been in this country for only 1 month at msrp or lower is wonderful!! Remember when the 1st Gen Priuses were selling for over msrp? I know the circumstances were a bit different but still....

    I think you mean that the msrp on the V5 without the tech package is $29.9K not invoice.

    Yeah, I do remember that! I had to fight for my 2001 and my 2004 to get them just down to MSRP! They held their value super great through and I was able to make money on them after 3.5 years of owner ship (with a 5 year loan each - and not 0%!).

    OK...I'll never get it, lol! But the bottom line $29.9 msrp, $36624 fully loaded. Walked out the door at $34.4 plus $347 license, regist. etc. Very pleased.

    Nantz, this is good information.

    I could see them being tough to get to that price but thats exactly where I'd try to get em to if I make a move.

    I went on truecar, and while I can't figure out how to "configure a car" and get exact invoice, it seems to indicate roughly by the trim level 2,3, or 5 what MSRP and invoice are, and those seem to run about $1700 apart

    It also indicated the true price the dealer paid runs about 500 less than invoice I think. Plus they have the 3% holdback waiting for them if it sells quick, so they still made money.

    Good job. Way to hold firm. The Blue sky and bisque is what I like as well.

    Whats this Moon roof all about? Is it like a sunroof?

    It's a resin panoramic moonroof that covers the first and second row of seats and come with power-adjustable sunshades. It's a fixed moonroof to allow light to come in, brightening up the cabin. They claim it's also fairly good at keep the heat out in the summer. It's also lighter than a standard steel roof, lowering the centre of gravity.

    I had one dealer offer $150 under MSRP and lowballed my trade. I went to another and got $225 off of invoice and got $1750 more for my trade. I took it. The car came with no floor mats??? He said they didn't have any in. Hmmmm....

    I stopped in and saw a red model v 2 on a lot saturday and stopped to look at it. The sales guy was talking and giving his spiel, which I pretty much already knew. I made a joke about 10% off list price and he starts going on about how there isn't a lot of margin on these.

    I was like, well, take that red one there, for 28K, there's about 1600-1700 above the invoice price. Then there is about another 600-700 below invoice to get to dealer cost. Then you have about 900 in dealer holdback....

    He spouts in, well, we prob wont get down into the holdback.

    I said, well that might be right, but I'd be thinking pretty damn close to it.

    He didn't say anything else......

    I just today went back over and again drove the CT200h and went across the street and drove the v5 again.

    I love the way to CT looks outside and inside. The materials are nicer and the finish is solid.

    However, when I sit down and my knee bumps the console and my rear passenger cant sit with his legs in front of him, it ends right there.

    I'll add this little bit, myself and 2 coworkers went and drove both, and we all agree that the v actually has better acceleration than the CT.

    ALSO, on the highway, it fetl like I was really trying to work to keep the car up at 70. It felt like the engine was really working, and I was really on the gas, and as soon as I backed off it quickly fell back towards 60.
    When I drove the v, it just glides along at 70 effortlessly. Much less engine noise cause it seems to not be working as hard. Also, when you back off the gas, it seems to just float along much easier.

    I sure wish they put that nice interior in the V. I'd pay a couple K extra for that lexus feel inside, but its not an option as it is.

    Is it that hard to find a deal on these? I never buy a new car over invoice, usually quite a bit below. I do my homework and go in ready to buy, so I don't waste the dealers time, they make a smaller but faster profit. I know its a newer model, but with a first model year (inevitable problems) and the reviews decrying interior style and quality, I'm surprised people are paying over MSRP.

    I just bought a 2012 Prius V5 for $100 under invoice. I tried to get an AUDI Q5 for under invoice but not was not successful. It's selling way to well and is in very short supply. They will sell for under MSRP though.

    If you're in California, definitely not hard to get below invoice. We purchased ours over a month ago at 300 below invoice without much haggling or hassle, I probably could have done at least 500 below if I was more patient. I can only imagine prices are lower now that the Prius v has been out longer.

    If in Arizona (Phoenix) go to Camelback Toyota and ask for MO...I bought my FULLY loaded Prius v with ATP, $100 over dealer COST! NOT MSRP. No haggle. They are the largest and newest Toyota dealership in the nation..They make their money on volume.

    PS..I don't work for them. I'm just a happy customer. We have bought 2 Pri and one Highlander from this dealership so far.

    The tactic that I used was to identify what you want exactly, then call several dealers and let them know that list, and what you're willing to pay and give them your phone number. If they will not meet it on the spot, give them a week. In my case, I got a grand off of MSRP, after a week of waiting. Well worth it...

    Just wanted to clarify to others out there who might travel long distances to the above mentioned dealer. This gentleman (cactus hybrid) didn't have a trade from what I gathered in another post (thread). I however have a trade and have been consistently offered $14K by other dealers on a $500 over invoice deal. They had the color and options I wanted, so I drive a fair distance to do my deal, only to get an offer of $11K for my trade on an invoice deal. This was a complete waste of my time...and the way I was treated from the internet manager, was very unprofessional. I have a backup deal in place and learned a valuable lesson in BS. Just wanted to share with others so you don't waste your time...if you live close, give it a shot, if not..save your gas!

    For those of you who live in Arizona and bought your car in California, how did the sales tax and registration work? I'm mostly curious about the sales tax rate, since the AZ state sales tax is 6.6%, but every county and city adds to that (for a total of 9.3% in Phoenix).
    1. Did you pay AZ or CA sales tax when you bought the car (or none at all)?
    2. Where did you pay your sales tax, license, and registration fees?
    3. What was the sales tax rate you paid?

    I'm trying to determine if there is tax savings worth the cost of a flight and drive back.

    I'm way on the other side, but my understanding from reading about all the "Whitmiring" on here is that to avoid paying sales tax in CA you must not pick it up and drive it in CA because it needs to be an "export". You car must at least be transported to the CA border. Then you'll pay sales tax in your home state.
