I bought my v5 a week ago - it has been great.

If you want a v5 in Ribbon Blue in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area w/o ATP, you’re in for a 4-6 week wait, so I picked mine up in Omaha for a grand less than MSRP. The drive home went quick, and it got 50.1 mpg. I found I am always better off using the cruise control, for best mileage. I am a very happy customer.

One really big surprise, is that the keyless entry fob, gives me wife’s Honda Fit issues. A couple of days ago, I pressed the lock and unlock buttons a couple of times, and noticed the tail lights on the Fit came on and off. Um… I pressed it again to turn them off, and headed into the house. The next day, the battery on the Fit was dead. I charged it, and it was fine, but I’ll avoid messing with it at home again. It would be interesting to drive through a Honda dealership to see if this is unique to our Fit, or if it gives all Honda’s a “fitâ€.

If the folks who write the firmware for the navigation system are reading this, here is an improvement for you to make: Sometimes my phone (MyTouch-HTC Froyo from T-Mobile) will disconnect the music or internet and or the phone connection too. I have to relink these to regain their perspective functions. There is a button to “disconnect allâ€, when anything is connected. And then there is the “connect all†button when everything is disconnected. This design would be a lot more user friendly, if the “connect all†button was present, whenever ANYTHING was disconnected.

I would like to have information, on the advance settings for the internet connection. I’ve yet to figure out how to send/receive text messages.

I would like to know too, if there are plans to display all 4 tire pressures, on the navigation display. Here in the north where it gets very cold, tire pressures can vary a lot due to temperature. Having that data on the display would be very useful to have.

The heated seats are great. I am giving thought to building a pulse width modulation circuit to throttle back with a rotatable knob, how hot they get.

Does anyone out there, have a clue, as to what card, that card holder is supposed to hold to the left of the driver? A duplicate cup holder as the passenger has, seems to be more useful.

Overall, it is a great car.
The last time we were shopping for a car, the standard Prius did not get our vote because of that plastic extension from the dash to the arm rest. The lack of it in the “vâ€, allows me with long legs, to cross my legs in the front passenger seat. A vast improvement.

Good to see a fellow hacker on the board :) Do you really want to hack a brand new car to add a 555 timer to modulate the seat warmer!

As far as Bluetooth is concerned: This stuff never works as well as advertised. I have been very lucky with having my iPhone4 stay connected by Bluetooth.

But: in order to use Entune, I need to use the USB cable!!! It does work perfectly with the cable however. It turns out that there is some quirk in the Bluetooth implementation of the standard display audio unit with navigation - not the premium navigation unit that you have in the v 5. Only for the iPhone4, Entune requires a cable.

I was wondering the same thing with the card holder. It doesn't fit the remote, so it seems useless. If any one has found a use for this, please share.

LoL… Yeah, that Card holder on the left… I put my extra Sams Card in it… It might come in handy if you need card access for your company parking…

I believe the Premium HDD nav option will show all 4 tyre pressures (at least it did on the Camry Hybrid we drove at Craneway Pavilion).

The bluetooth is contingent on the phone. Some phones work better, others don't.

The spot where we have the card holder is where other countries insert their electronic toll booth card reader. I guess Toyota figured a small pocket is better than nothing.

Which dealer in Omaha did you buy from?

Old Mill, they were great to work with, and they are more than happy to pick you up at the airport.

oh also the jury is still out for me and the bluetooth connection. It had been working perfectly but now I can only hear my ipod music play if i make a phone call and hang up. Very odd and I can't figure out what i am doing wrong.

My wife just put 1K miles on the new Prius V and said she had some issues with the Bluetooth too… I usually just plug in the iPod interface cable and have no problems but I haven't noticed any bluetooth problems when using bluetooth. We both use the iPhone 4S phones.

I know that I often have an issue of needing to disconnect the blue tooth for my USB cable connection to get sound. Is that a setting issue?
