i just logged back into the order site 2 minutes ago, and clicked "check availability" here's what i see: i think cars are still for sale or toyota's web programmers got some 'splainin to do.
Toyota has said and I posted that the car is NOT sold out and still available for order in all states. Keep an eye on this thread I stickied for updates: http://priuschat.com/forums/toyota-...king-resolve-prius-plug-in-ordering-site.html
thanks, paradox. for the life of me i just can't figure out why dianne keeps spreading this FUD. worse, as a dealer she does not have to rely on the public-facing website and should easily be able to find out if the cars are still available online.
Does anyone know specifically how the dealership is notified of the order we (I) placed (email, online system, etc). My dealer is stating they have not received any notification from Toyota that I place an online order. I gave them my confirmation number and they are going to check it out.
Uh Oh. Sounds like they didn't have their training done... or their correct screens up. Yikes. It was bound to happen. They won't get emails if they didn't set up the initial order screens right... they need to call their DM and get help.
I believe the number correlates with time you sent your configuration to your dealer (but I have no way of confirming that).
I think the website "sold out" message was an error too. But, still have two clients who are having issues ordering cars. I suggested they call for help to the helpdesk or try another color to see if it works.
I got #1074 after about 1 1/2 hours of frustration. So I guess it was 1030 pst. Clearwater Blue Base model for $750 under MSRP ($32,010 with California destination charge and NO accessories) My salesman questioned me about "no floormats"??? I told him not today, I can get floormats anyday. I discussed getting the tinting mirror/homelink added. Looks like I am the highest number posted
You got the best deal so far, I managed to get $576 off MSRP. Final price was $40K even for Blizzard Pearl with the rear bumper applique. Only reason why I got the applique is because I'm really bad at putting those things on, so I figured the person at the Port doing it must have done hundreds and I haven't seen a bad one yet at a dealer. Floormats, cargo net etc. I plan on getting them online or at least better floor mats than the OEM ones.
I got the bumper applique too, for the exact same reason. The person at the port is probably a pro and can do them in his or her sleep. My order number was 0052. Submitted 8:55 Confirmed at 9:31 Completed at 9:33 It took a while to get confirmed... 36 minutes.
Order #168x Thank you very much to PriusChat for giving me the leverage to negotiate my deal. Was able to do better than $500 at a non-PC dealer by showing them the Certified Dealer thread. Helps because the closest certified dealer is about a ~90 mile roundtrip from my house + crossing a bridge. California sales tax and annual registration costs are based on the original purchase price, so the lower you negotiate your MSRP, the lower you pay on tax and on reg for many years to come.
My order number is 338. I had it ordered & confirmed by Dianne all within 11 minutes of the order window opening. Thanks to Dianne Whitmire, it was a very quick & efficient process overall. I'm shipping my car back to Kansas City. For all I know, I might be one of the very few Kansas PHEV owners as most other postings I've read from others seem to be on the eastern & western coasts.
Ended up with #880 Blizzard White / AT. Firefox, safari and IE would not work for me, was finally able to submit at around 9:25am via chrome.
Wow, you guys went into your dealerships already? I got a call from mine about ten minutes after I placed my order, and we agreed that I'll come by tomorrow. Is there really a reason to rush over there?
You don't get into the production line until the order is completed... you're reserved a car, but not a place in line.
Submitted my order at 08:55, received confirmation email at 09:06. 'Order complete' email received 09:28. Sea Glass Pearl, no add-ons, order # 0051. Easy, fun process!
about "we've sold out" message on the site: they've coded up the page in a such a way that this is the default text that's shown when the page first loads. then, there's a little script that checks in with the server to determine whether they *have* actually sold out. if the server says "cars are still available!", the "sold out" message gets swapped with the video for how the order process works. because the server is obviously getting swamped, this "sell out" status message take a while to get back to your computer. as a result, it initially looks like the car has sold out. impatient folks never see that message replaced with the order video, so they think that the car has sold out when in fact it hasn't. i'm number 871 submitted at 9.27. Dianne confirmed at 9.33, then called and woke me up to tell me that I had to confirm the order again on my end, so the final process was complete at 10.10.
