I was aquainted with the banana slug in the early 70s when I spent a month travelling up and down the coasts of Washington and Ori-gun. Initially, they are quite startling. And they can be a hazard: I think that is is cool for UC Santa Cruz to have it as a mascot, although it is hard to imagine a "fighting banana slug." How about some banana slug candy?
Absolutely no disrespect to the majestic Banana slug or John Travolta, but I am more of a Blue Dragon (Glaucus atlanticus) guy myself.
