The 2011 Prius Two replaced a 2007 Subaru Outback. I hope that the addition of some Michelin X-Ice II tires will make up for the lack of AWD on my sloped driveway this winter. I miss the added cargo space of the Suby, but the Prius gets about twice the MPG on my long daily commute.

Here is our 2001 POS Hyundai Accent 5-spd 1.5L which I bought for $1900 about a year ago for my teen age son.

It's cheap, very basic, crude, loud, noisy, no power, uncomfy, oh did I say cheap?!
This is a car that you don't want to be seen driving or show up on a date or high school reunion or Sunday church. But as far as the mpg goes, it beats some of the hybrids out there:
    > Best I've got is 55 mpg on 200 mile hwy trip.
    > Worst I've got is 35 mpg when I was teaching my teenage son how to drive stick shift all day long in a parking lot.
    > Average I get is 42-44 MPG in city/hwy mixed daily drivings.
    > I routinely get 450 miles on a 11-gallon tank.

Above is somewhat more than normal (but getting 40 mpg hwy is normal for the Accent). The check engine light is on and the OBD II reader said "Lean Intake Bank". Yes, it is running too lean which gives that extra high mpg. There is no serious running issue because of that. It idles little rough when started up after not driving for several days. Other than that, it runs fine.

Bought my 2011 Prius a few weeks ago and got rid of my 2000 Ford Focus the same week. That car was a nightmare for me repair wise but I kept fixing it hoping that "this will do it". Found out from the new owner that the timing belt went out three days after she bought it from me. I still haven't recovered from the guilt but I'm also glad it finally wasn't me paying for that repair so if you see my mechanic on "House Hunters International" I paid for that new house in Borneo! I'm in my late-ish 30's but I've managed to only buy a few cars in my lifetime. In order they are:
    1984 Dodge Charger Shelby (1989-1991)
    1991 Nissan NX (1991-2005)
    2000 Ford Focus (2005-2011)

Last car was a 2004 Saturn VUE, which was great at the time. It was a 4 cyl, 5 speed, and I still liked it a lot. I had put over 240,000 miles on it in 6 1/2 years, and I was tired of complaining about the cost of gas when I rented a Prius this summer for a weekend trip. The only question after that was "when" to buy. I agonized for a month or so and bought a 2011 Prius II in September. My only regret is not doing it last year.

I came out of a 2009 Jetta TDI for the Prius. That car was the biggest POS I've ever owned and is my last VW.

The Prius replaced my wife's 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee Hemi 4x4 that got 14mpg city, 16 hwy. The Prius has travelled 250 miles on half a tank where the Jeep would have used a full tank (20 gal). Loving the gas mileage and $$ savings of the Prius.

Replaced my beloved 2004 Volvo XC 70. Loved this car, didn't love the 21mpg.

I was driving a 2009 Tacoma that had a few months left on the lease. Had about $5500 in equity (lease payoff $17,500, trade in value $23,000). Purchased a 2011 III.

I was getting around 17 mpg with the Tacoma, so far with the Prius about 51. Saving around $120 per month on fuel costs. Prius insurance is about $10 more per month than the Tacoma.

My other current car is 2003 6.0L that gets only 12-15 mpg.
I use this mainly when I tow.

My previous car was a Gen II Prius. I liked it so much, I just had to have another. The solar roof sold me. I would buy a plug-in, but no glass roof offered.

This is my other current vehicle that gets about the same mpg as Prius but about 30 more hp and 3 times quicker acceleration (0-60 in 2.7 seconds).

2006 Corvette. Still have it, but this was my daily driver. But my 2011 blue Prius III has a carpool plate, so I only drive the Vette on weekends.
