I am trying to find out if the Prius v ATP option allows spoken voice commands for navigation. Must all entries be entered through the keypad or are there spoken commands that can be used? For example, can one speak the name of the destination?
Yes, it does. For the HDD system, you can enter an address, though you need to do it step by step (state, city, street, number). You can also say phrases like find nearby gas to get a list of close gas stations. You can say any of the POI categories.
All voice commands are available when driving (iPod control, navi, hands-free calls, access to sports, stocks, traffic, etc.). It helps deal with functions being locked out.
So, how good are the ipod voice command controls? Can I say "play song bullet with butterfly wings"? The built-in voice command features on the iphone, for example, will let you say "play songs by kanye west" or "play album Neon Bible", but it won't let you ask for a specific song.
The music commands are "Play Song", "Play Artist", "Play Album" and "Play Playlist". So yes, you can say "Play Song Bullet with Butterfly Wings". This is with an iPod with ~1000 songs.
Just so everyone knows the Display Audio with navigation unit in the package 3 and 5 with out AT does this too. However you cant voice command in Entune like you can on the HDD.
I want to be clear about your comment. Are you saying that all the voice commands work the way they have been described regardless of whether you have ATP or not? It seems like you are only referring to ENTUNE as being outside the bounds of voice control. Is that correct?
Yeah, you don't need the ATP for voice control. The Display Audio does the same thing, and has a few more commands actually. The ENTUNE software on the ATP system lets you do voice searches of BING, Display Audio is only manual searching.
