Just a few minutes ago, I signed the dotted line for a v Three from Toyota of Hackensack (in New Jersey). Silver with grey interior. I pick it up on Monday. Paid MSRP but got a generous trade in value for my 10 year old Sienna. [With fine timing the Check Engine light just came on in my Sienna. Ah well..] This was the first Prius V that the dealer has sold and was on their lot for just a couple of days..
Congrat's on the v. So far we are still loving ours after 3 days, lol. They may not be for everyone but it will suit us fine. My only fear is how is it in snow? I do have a small four wheel drive pickup so it's not too important.
Congratulations on the new vehicle. I brought our Gen III prius to the dealer today for it's 5000 mile check. While I was at the dealer they delivered a V. They had a second one on display that I took a look at. I was impressed with the interior and materials used.
How much they charge you for documentation? Did they charge you for Etching? I have a offer for Pkg III, but they forced me to do Etching, and they said that is dealers requirement.
They charged me $300 for documentation and they did slip in the window etch as well. I was in a bit of a hurry so I really did not have time to fight these two items unfortunately.
Me too, me too!! I just bought a Prius V3 a few hours ago!!!! Paid dealer's invoice not msrp but the doc fee was $400. (In my state, the doc fees are not regulated-some states like Ca. doc fees are regulated hence the $55 charge).
Unexpectedly, I got the car a couple of days early. I had planned to pick up the car on Monday but I got a call from the dealer on Saturday wondering if I could come right away since he was busy on Monday. Fortunately, I had all the paperwork ready so I just went over and picked it up. I immediately updated my profile as you can see on the left. Its a Silver v three with dark grey fabric. The family was thrilled to see the car when I drove it home - this was actually the first time that they had seen it. My younger daughter thought that there was some magic going on: she said that the v feels as roomy as our old Sienna minivan but was incredibly compact on the outside. I agree - the space utilization is amazing. I am a software developer so, of course, I had spent the previous night reading through the PDF manuals for the car on the Toyota web site . When the tech guy came to show me the car at delivery time, I was able to point out a few things that he had missed. The v is great but there are a couple of features that I am missing from my old car: No Homelink buttons for opening garage doors. Considering the price of the car, I feel that they could have included this feature in the Three. No autodimming rear view mirror. Again, this is a minor thing, but I have become used to this feature. It really helps with night driving.
These two options are what I'd want from the FIVE in the THREE too. In another thread I was told you can get an OEM mirror with those 2 features for a couple hundred $$$ and since you are an engineer you can probably replace it yourself!
Your suggestion for the after-market auto dimming was a great idea. It hadn't occurred to me that such a thing might exist. I looked around and found this gadget: clip-on Auto Dimming Mirror Seems to be low enough in cost that it may be worth trying.
I was thinking more along the lines of Gentex mirrors. Someone in these forums referred me to them. They will cost a bit more than the clip ons, but they look (and probably are) OEM. Do a quick Google search for them
I put a Gentex autodimming and homelink plus outside temp in our Escape hybrid this summer and so far it works great. I think it cost $300 for the kit.
Here is a quick snap of my new Prius v that I took in my office parking lot: Counting the cars in the lot, I was able to find a dozen Priuses just within my eyesight. Mine is the first v of course. Several people came up to me to ask me about the car. I should point out that this is a research facility and many of the people who work here are hard-core techies and love gadgets.
There are TWO v's in the parking lot at work here, both Clear Sky with dark grey interior, though mine has the AT and the other one does not. We love 'em. Peter+
I bought a Clear Sky Metallic V3. Looooove the color! Such a chameleon color. In the sun, it looks so much lighter than it actually looks when it is in the shade. Great light color for the desert too!
So agree! Chameleon color. My husband will like that analogy too. The color inside the garage is different too. The Oregon rain and fog makes it look more gray blue. I live in a very small town but yesterday saw one exactly like mine. Aren't we fortunate?
