Rust

    I noticed rust on the hood of my 2007 Prius (127K). Rust is on the front edge (drivers side). paint is "bubbling up". Toyota has rust protection for up to five years, unlimited mileage. Has anyone had this problem? Did dealer cover it or say it had to be completely rusted through perforated)?

    I believe that the hood is aluminum, not a ferrous metal, so the paint bubbling is not caused by rust.

    It would be steel most likely on a salvage rebuild, being $80-$100 cheaper for the rebuilder.

    A Toyota Gen II hood is aluminum. The paint may bubble but it ain't rusting.
