Got a Blizzard Pearl with grey interior. Its a package five without AT. We have two children and we used to have a Mazda5. The Prius v is much more comfortable and roomy inside. We are going to miss the sliding doors but the rest of the car is worth it. I too think the package 5 is worth the money for the seats alone. I work at a Toyota dealer as a tech and the Prius is the most problem free car I have ever seen. Glad to have one the family can fit in.
:welcome: You'll need to sign on often, this site is addicting and as a tech you might have some great views on things.
Congrats and :welcome: to PriusChat! We'd always like a new tech (so feel free to modify your title from junior member to Toyota Technician or similar so that we can identify you)
This is great to know. I am definitely in the market for a V and am heading to my local dealer for a test drive today. I am pretty much resigned to paying MSRP - or is there any wriggle room for negotiation?
It all deopends on the dealership. I mean it's not like you are buying a car that has been out for a while now or is in the last year of its lifecycle. That plays upon if they discount or not. Considering this is a brand new vehicle and inventory has not really built up yet they will probably want MSRP or close to it but it can't hurt to try and deal, hell, it's expected to try and get the best deal you can.
Welcome aboard. It's great to have a Prius tech and a Prius v owner on PC. And the fact that you moved from a Mazda 5 gives a great perspective to those of us who have no basis for comparison. Can't wait to hear your impressions of the Prius v and the reasons you made the jump from the very similar-looking Mazda 5.
Once my dealer got me in the box they tried to charge $3,000 over MSRP for a Prius v three. I told them the car wasn't worth $3,000 over MSRP to me. I also said that if they thought they could sell it at that premium to someone else then find that someone else. After a brief bit of shenanigans (like agreeing to MSRP, but implying an extended warranty and an extended maintenance plan were conditions of a sale), I ended up paying exactly MSRP and getting a few things like floor mats and cargo net tossed in to make me feel better about it. I don't think there is much wiggle room for negotiating below MSRP at this time. Or maybe I am a sucker. Doesn't matter. Love my new car.
Picking up mine in the am. Same color same package, beige seats. First one sold in Illinois. I never drove it just bought it. Giving up a 2002 MDX.
Hi! I ordered my Prius v in July and it arrived today. Blizzard pearl, Touring model, everything but Technology package. Test drove it today and I loved it. Pick it up Monday. I can't wait:cheer2:
Thanks for all the welcomes. We didnt get to drive it much today as it was at the window tinting shop. Turned out very nice looks great. I will have to take some pics tomorrow. Next is DVD screens for the headrests.Someone asked about going from a Mazda 5 to this. I am 6ft 4 and my 9 year old is getting taller the V has much more leg room for the front and rear seats. We always had the 3rd seat in the Mazda folded down flat but even then the V has more cargo room too. The Mazda was a great car never had any problems with it but it was small. I am a Prius certified tech if any has questions I will do my best to answer them. I will be going to entune class next week. As for price the MSRP on mine was $31264.00 as an employee of the dealership I paid $300 over invoice.
From my understanding there is always wiggle room on negotiations due to the "holdback payment" to the dealer for each car sold from Toyota which can be 1.5% of list price, I believe.......
Welcome aboard toyofixer. From my experience with various toyota dealers ,(of course this is only my opinion) not too many toyota employee's are aware of or visit this web site.
I wouldn't hold your breath for a deal--but I got some free accessories thrown in. Still it's such a better car and deal than my 2008 Highlander Hybrid lease...
Congrats!! (P.S., your profile package needs to be the Touring package. The G Touring is for Japanese models of the standard Prius)
I also picked up a silver prius v III today for $28k + TTL. I was really hoping to get a package Five in grey but that's the only one they had and the next delivery is in mid-December. My 08 prius was totaled back in May and I'd been holding for this car for almost 5 months so I'll have to make a sacrify and settle for the silver one.
