Hi guys! It is me and my wife's first time to buy a brand new car. And it's a Prius III with Solar Roof Package! We almost bought a used Prius last year but I had my sights on another car and my wife has bugged me for it since. Anyway, we were able to get exactly the car that we wanted now and we are lovin it! p.s I wish I discovered this forums before buying. We cave in to the Dealer Price Platinum Warranty. We can still cancel it and get the discounted one from here right? Thanks a lot!
Congrats paui!!!:rockon: My first new car was an '84 Honda CRX HF (high fuel) that got 40-50 mpg way back then. Needless to say, you'll be forever spoiled by economical driving. Solar is cool too (pun intended). Yes, you can get out of the warranty. They won't like it (pure profit) and will try to make you think you can't.
Welcome to the club! According to what I've read here, yes you can terminate the warranty coverage with the dealer and get it from PriusChat. The price is quite a bit less. Whether you should save your money completely is a better question. I bought it with my first Prius and never got to use it; I had an '04 with 113K miles when I traded it for my current '10. Congratulations on purchasing your first new car! I don't have an answer regarding the warranty (but I think you can cancel it....). You don't even have to buy it right away, you can wait a couple of years and decide if you need the extra coverage. California is a CARB state, so your battery (and some other hybrid components) are covered by a 10 year 150,000 mile warranty. And the paranoia of where to park to avoid door dings will eventually fade.....but not for awhile. Welcome to the forums!

Paui, Nice choice; you'll love the solar roof. Mine's silver with light grey. Too bad it won't be offered on the new plug-in model. That's my reason for holding off on the plug-in.
I suggest you get a ding right away. The anxiety until you do is really annoying Yep on the warranty -- I think you have 30 days to cancel if unused, but best to be sure and ahead of the bell. I personally think the warranty is a waste of money, but if your heart is set on it then buying through PriusChat and Troy is a good way to go. Mabruk! We were also thinking of holding off for a 2012 model. But since there are already deals for the 2011, we decided to get one now.

congrats on the new wheels... I have a 2010 III with solar package, silver... My father in law saw mine, and got a 2011 IV with solar package, silver... Look the same, but my wife would probably like the heated seats in the winter... Only thing worse than getting the ding from someone else, is doing it yourself... scraped it while helping mom into car last sunday... oh well..
