Bought a Prius v with level three trim yesterday. Today, for the first time, I tried to open the passenger-side windows from the driver-side control panel. Nothing. Passengers can lower windows with their control panels, but the driver-side panel won't work. Driver side windows work fine. Lock and unlock work fine. Mirror adjustors work fine. Even the window lock appears to work fine. Anyone else having this problem?
If the window lock was not on while you were trying to lower a window and the lock came off later and it now works I'd bring it in to get it looked at. It should lower if the window lock is not on...
Yep. It should lower if the window lock isn't engaged (unless Toyota changed the way they used th window lock). Might wanna have that checked.
So I took the car back to the dealer's service department. They had it fixed in less than 5 minutes. I guess a computer controls the windows on the driver-side control panel. Each window has to be initiated by some sequence and then lowered fully and raised fully using the control on the door for that window. After that, the driver-side control panel "realizes" that the windows are there and can control them. Somebody only initialized the driver-side windows. Essentially, the computer didn't know it had control over the passenger-side windows. Glad that was nice and easy.
All the windows except the drivers window will not work in my 2008 priuus.I have checked everything. What is the problem?
First, you may be able to pull up lightly on the glass to help it up if need be. It could be a bad motor (tap on the motor and if it starts to go up when you tap on it, it's probably time to replace it. It could also be a bad connection with the wiring, or it could be binding in the track. Check the wiring and how it passes through to the door. Also check the ground wire, and be certain that it is tight. You can take a wire with alligator clips and jump from the motor's ground to a known good ground to check it.
