wondering if anybody has this problem of foam coming out of seat due to a plastic rib coming loose (hard to describe). Passenger seat, just light, normal use and only 12,800 miles on 2010. Should dealer honor warranty?
If it's obvious the stitching is coming out and that's causing it or if you're trying to describe that the hard plastic on the side of the seat has worn into the seat causing the problem then sure they should cover it. If it looks like something you were wearing may have pierced the seat and caused a hole or rippage which is leading to the problem, I doubt they'd cover it.
I had this happen on the front underside of the driver's seat. They replaced the seat foam and leather under warranty. I still check it now and then to see if the plastic strip is coming loose but it seems to be working fine. See the dealer to see if they can re-seat the plastic strip (mine couldn't). They ordered the parts on my next visit for an oil change. Good luck. By the way, if your issue is the same as mine, then your thread title seems a little alarmist.
Thanks, my description is bad, it looks like a plastic rib keeps the fabric "tucked in" and that's come loose or broke, allowing the foam to start comingl out. The seat is not pierced in any way. It's where the leather meets the plastic rib. I was just wondering if anybody else had a seat like this deteriorate?
Is the plastic rib the one under the front part of the seat that keeps the seat ("leather") pulled down and should be attached to a metal lip? My plastic strip is coming off the metal lip. I was trying to reattach it the other day without success.
I have the same problem on my driver's seat. I can re-attach it but it just comes back off within a few days. I'm taking it in for service later this month so hopefully they will resolve it.
