Reveived an e-mail from my saleman at Team Toyota yesterday, the v has arrived at their dealership! Jason has assisted a few PriusChatters here in Atlanta (including myself) and elsewhere get an awesome deal on a new Prius, anyone interested let me nkow and I'll pass along his contact info!
Same here in Northern NJ. The cars began showing up at several dealerships Monday. We are scheduled to pick-up our build 3 on Wednesday (Clear Sky Metallic/Bisque). We are a little concerned about the light color interior (which I have on my 2004 Prius) and may opt for a Black build-3 with dark gray interior at another dealership.
Is there a site that will show availability across the country or by zip code or something? Our local dealer in AZ, the biggest Toyota dealer in AZ, got one (only one) yesterday and sold it a few hours later. I'd rather not have to call every dealer to find out if they have any.
The one thing you may experienc e is when one's pre-sold, it will still appear in a dealership's inventory because till it's left the dealership and really sold, you don't remove it from inventory thru the Toyota system. It is best to call. I had a total of 20 allocated in the lasty 6 weeks, and already have rolled 4 off to their new homes. That leaves 16. But, the ones at PORT won't show even though they should be here very soon and many are available. Because of the inventpry status Toyota keeps the cars in, I may only show 5 wagons, of which 3 are already spoken for. That leaves you thinking I have 2 but really have 16 ... of which 10 are pre-sold. I have 6 left unsold coming soon but you'd never know that or what they are unless you reach me to ask. I hope that makes sense. Make calls. Or, come here? LOL!

Toyota of Morristown and Toyota World of Newton. We just bought the one at Newton that we pre-ordered and released the pre-ordered (black, build-3) at Morristown. MSRP is what you are going to see at these dealerships until there is inventory build-up. As we pre-ordered (placed a deposit on an allocated vehicle not yet received by the dealer) you can avoid dealer add-ons (often outrageously priced) by insisting they not be added upon arrival at the dealership. Ask for an itemized the "out-the-door" price and then ask for any unwanted dealer add-ons omitted from your pre-order
One word of advice? The wagons have been allocated three times now... meaning, for the last 6 weeks, they have been assigning cars to dealers - cars that are sitting at PORT as of recent days or coming on fresh boats in early November. This first load of cars was artificially high because it consisted of THREE allocations of cars in one stack. It was like floodwaters building up at the dam... once cut loose, the flow subsides. My first 3 allocations consisted of 20 cars total. That's really a month and a half worth of cars for me, and some of the smaller dealerships may not even get that many in 6 months' worth of allocations! Knowing how small these profit margins are in this model, sticker isn't unreasonable at all. I'm at well under sticker because I can afford to right now with 20 units in the pipeline and no real demand yet ... not till the cars hit the streets!! Once they are OUT there and seen and their presence becomes obvious... the demand in certain areas may outstrip the supply...
Doing a pick up in SoCal is no problem for me. But I need to see one in person (here in AZ) and check out how well our golf clubs fit with the rear seats up before I decide whether to buy. I'll keep you posted.
I got to check it out this morning while I was getting my Prius serviced. This one is available (I could have bought it). It a Base Two, no options other than Toyo Guard and Floor Mats, MSRP was just over $28K. I like the interior, much more room in the front seats, rear seats and in the hatch area! I would classify this as a true station wagon, with all the versatility you'd expect from from that class of vehicle! Had this been available when we traded my wife's CR-V, we would have gotten one. If anyone in the Metro Atlanta area is interested, PM me and let me know, I'll pass along Jason's info, he will take really good care of you if your referred by me!
