    i thought there was a procedure that didn't require a scantool that anyone could do

    It doesn't work on US models.

    Ah, I see. Still, not much use to most of us who don't have our own THHT. Maybe just to give a 'heads up' to the tech to be sure to use the latest version of the TSB.

    At the bottom it reads "NOT APPLICABLE TO WARRANTY". Does this mean that I must pay to have this serviced?

    This is the instructions on how to add a new Key Fob (Smart Key) to your car. They give you two, but it can support up to four.

    Yes, it's on your dime. It's not a warrantee issue any more than putting new tires on the car would be.

    You have to pay for both the new Smartkey and installation labor.
