Link to California Center for Sustainable Energy Event pictures. I never got the official total number. One lady told me there were 79 EVs, mostly Leafs. National Plug In Day - Oct 2011
Thanks for all the pretty pictures! Excellent post! And I like the variety. The Chevy small pickup truck with the solar panel cover over the back is awesome. It's nice to see a PHV Prius, Volt, and electric Porsche also. What city was this event in?
It was in San Diego. The main 2 focuses of the event were, 1 to update Leaf owners who were on the waiting list for their rebates from the Clean Vehicle Rebate Program (CVRP originally a $5000 state rebate for 2010-2011 in 2011-2012 funding is for $2500 for Leafs and $1500 for PIP), 2 An update on the Public Charging stations planned for San Diego. I went to see all the cars and free lunch. I met a few really nice people and learned a lot from the California Center for Sustainable Energy guys. I intend to try to get a test drive soon in a Leaf.
Since you liked the variety I thought I would add more of my pictures from that event and an event from last year. There was an electric 1986 Chevy El Camino, a newer VW bug, an slightly older VW Rabbit.
I did not know where else to post these or any easier way. 2 of a red Tesla from last years event.
Thanks! I wish I'd known. I would have gone to this. I need to search the internet more frequently for hybrid, EV, and green events.
I stumbled upon it in the San Diego Union Tribune the night before. Looks like the event in Orange Ca. was even bigger.
Actually, this is not true. The record number of EVs in a single spot was set at that scrapyard where GM crushed all its EV1s .
OMG Shouldn't there be a warning on that picture about its being unsuitable for viewing by young children, pregnant women, and the faint of heart?
If I were to guess . . . I'd think the one up in Santa Monica (and the immediately surrounding communities) was the biggest . . . shute - there's more EV's up there than you can shake a stick at. .
