just a couple of minuets the car has sat 3,4 months the eco bar did not move after gas engine started ? thanks
The CHG bar on the HSI indicates charging from braking. When charging from the engine while stopped, there'll be no indication other than a fairly fast idle, and the engine doesn't shut off just because you're stopped. I believe you have to be down to 2 bars of the battery before this will happen. It also won't charge very much - it may still be around 2 bars (possibly 3? I can't recall.) when it's finished charging. To get more than that, the car has to actually be driven.
Neutral disconnects the HV battery. Either leave it in Park or the best thing, as mentioned above, is to drive the car. The car will take care of the HV battery if you just drive it. You also want to drive it for a while or either leave it in Park with it Ready so that the HV battery can charge the 12V battery.
