I have the new iPhone 4g. I got the streaming to work on my new Prius with navi but none of the buttons work. I can't skip songs, or go back...I just get the auido. Am I doing something wrong? Is this an iPhone issue? I'm interested to know other peoples experiences.
All you get is play and pause buttons on the nav screen. Apple doesn't fully support the latest and greatest bluetooth profile that would give more control.
The absolute latest and greatest version of bluetooth displays track names too, so Apple is 2 versions behind in bluetooth support since they don't even support track skipping. You are better off using the USB connection if you want to control songs from an iPhone.
I suggest a quick comment to Apple regarding this. I have been doing so with every new release of iOS. Apple - iPhone - Feedback
Track skipping is possible also under ios4 using steering wheel buttons and buttons on the radio itself. iPhone ? Zdenok
iOS 5 finally is up to date with their Bluetooth stack. You can now see track info, artist name, etc.
Really? Sweet! I hadn't tried it on iOS 5...guess I will be switching back to using BT. I got better sound from USB (Bluetooth sounded good on its own but sounded "flat" compared with USB under iOS 4).
Yep. Song title, Album, Artist. Actual info, not like the CD/USB stuff that gives filename, folder, artist.
Really???!!!?? I have the new 4S and I enjoy hearing Siri speak through my Navi system- but I've yet to stream bluetooth again with the new 4S. I'll look into it tomorrow. Has any changes been made to the USB connection with the new OS? It was once so slow and convoluted that I gave up trying to use the USB iPod adapter with my 3GS.
You have to pair the audio media player separately from the phone. Just goto the audio setting and pair it from there.
OP: You CAN play different tracks by using the SEEK and TRACK buttons on the Navi unit itself (Up and Down) to move between songs! There's no touch screen button to do it, but you CAN do it with the manual analog buttons. It's SO nice to be able to finally see the audio bluetooth information on the screen. I'm really glad to see this change! I'm now going to have to rehook up my 4S to the USB port in the console to see if there are any changes in the USB interface as well. I know that with my 3G the interface was so slow it was utterly useless and I opted instead to just control my music via bluetooth and my built-in iPod player back then. You can also use the "V" "^" buttons on your steering wheel as well. By holding the buttons down longer than a quick hit you can skip to a different album too according to the owner's manual.
