    Just found the following search facility applicable to UK vehicles;

    How Many Left?

    The database allows you to search how many vehicle models are on the roads. Obviously searching a brand new high production vehicle will bring back massive results but for older, obscure models and manufacturers it's quite interesting. Ever wondered how many models of your first car are still left on the road? I did a search for my first car - a Datsun Violet 160j and found there are only 2 left on the roads and 4 registered off road (laid up). The original Honda Insight is holding up well with a total of only 259 registered of which 253 are still roadworthy.

    Interesting results for the Prius and that's the reason for the post. It shows all the model types sold in the UK and here's the interesting thing - out of a total 1321 classic Prius sold, 1288 are still legally registered on the road - a loss of only 33 since 2000.

    The other interest was the two models registered as 'limited edition' which total 187 cars. No official Prius are sold as limited edition in the UK, so could these be the Prius Plug In models under test?

    p.s. Try searching 'Yugo' to see how only a handful exist out of thousands originally.

    that's brilliant! i wonder if we have anything like that? i think it would be a fascinating study and i would love to know the amount of each and every manufacturer, model and year on the road.

    Not even the 10th Anniversary Edition?? Maybe that's how the MOT classifies them.

    Awww that's kind of sad. There used to be loads of them about and my auntie had one (she's Italian and always buys Fiat! :rolleyes:). I wonder if the owners of these cars would have scrapped them if they knew they were so rare as to be the last one!

    Amazing how many once popular recent cars have almost vanished.look and see how many sierras or mk4/5 escorts you see on the roads,even early mondeos are becoming extinct all thanks to the scrappage scheme.160j and 180b dastsuns are well sought after now and when I think of how many I've scrapped or sold to banger racers for peanuts makes me weep.Still, this gen1 I have acquired should stay on the road for some years to come!:)

    They were not scrapped they went over bumps and road sweepers cleaned up the rust dust left behind.

    Cool site GC! So it seems there are 14699 Morris minors, (all variants) left to roam about the roadways.... Top Gear had better get busy!!! :D

    It isn't the beloved Minor Top Gear hate, it's its 'modern' replacement the Morris Marina. This was a car of choice (using that term lightly) in the early to mid 1970's and there were thousands of them. Now there are a handful and this is the car Top Gear love to crush;

    I had one when I was in my teens and it was nasty with a capital N.

    Ever so slightly better.

    It was probably the reason for the downfall of the UK car industry. At least that was when the rot set in - literally. It was also the time when the Germans made good cars - you remember - the days when German cars were actually MADE in Germany and were reliable. ;)

    I had a Leyland Marina 1750. My Mum thought she was buying a Mini. It was awful. When it transferred to me I started to fix and tweak a few things. It was a good car to learn on since it had limits that were reached easily and so heroics were avoided. Simple mechanicals but dopey front suspension.
    Australia had a 2.6L 6-cylinder version, which negotiated corners like North Korea at the six-party talks. There would be none of those left. I hope.

    It's said that 75% of all Land Rovers built are still running? I'm not sure if "How Many Left" bares that out.

    lol I owned a Marina too - I think it was my 2nd or 3rd car. It was the 1300cc economy version in gold and was truely dreadful. Had a mate who had an old Allegro and it broke down (it did that often), so I went to assist. His battery was flat so we tried to push start it but it didn't work. We then thought we'd push it down a hill to get a bit more speed up, which it did and ran away from us and into a wall!?! (I was young and foolish at that time). It was a dead end road and his car was at the bottom of the hill so we decided to push it back up with my car. This worked and when we got to the top we decided to bump start his car with mine! You can see where this is heading :) The idea was to get the car upto 25 mph, I'll beep my horn when I was ready and he'd let the clutch out on his car. So I drove up behind, started to push his car and then I beeped the horn (it was only a beep in a Marina), he let the clutch out, it still didn't start and ground to a sharp halt and then BANG I hit him :) lol

    I think I finished that Marina off doing donuts in an old quarry. Happy days :)
