I bought the 2010 in the magnetic gray because pickings were slim when Toyota was offering 0.9 financing on the 2010 models this past January. If I had my choice - I would have gone with the blue, since it was my #1 choice when I bought the Camry Hybrid in 2006 (waited on several deposits at multiple dealers), and the first one that became available was gray too! There is just something about the blue color that I like - maybe it is because it reminds me of University of Michigan blue, and I could put a nice block "M" in the corner of the back window.
Favorite color isn't the same as most owned/popular color, probably because some of the desirable but darker colors are high maintenance. Blizzard Pearl won the poll as the most owned color, at least here on PC. The new blue color is nearly the same anyway.
The Ribbon Blue won the poll for "What is your #1 Exterior COLOR CHOICE for your 2010 Prius ". That seems pretty close to the question posed in this present thread. If I feel a color will get dirty easily then I wouldn't pick that as my favorite Prius color. I'm considering a Blue and I was wondering why they were changing this color in the 2012's. If the new Blue is pretty much the same, then I suppose it doesn't really matter.
If I remember right the new blue color is sort of a lighter blue... I could be wrong.. but I remember seeing it at the show.
It's subjective. Some may say "Black is my favorite color, but I wouldn't pick it because it's not practical." If you look through the earlier thread, Blizzard Pearl won the poll as the most owned/popular color here. Are you referring to Clear Sky Metallic found on the Prius v, as Nautical Blue is a very dark blue?
I wanted the beautiful light green of the Gen 2 Priii, alas Gen 3 does not have that option. Choosing between the non-colors of black, dark grey, silver, and white, I'd choose the BP. However, all the Blizzard Pearls coming in at the dealer had leather seats, which DH did not want. Rather than have two silver Toyotas in our collection, we chose Barcelona Red, and it is growing on me. Green is still my favorite. I really don't like the ribbon blue. My first Taurus was dark blue, and it read as black during our hot Southern summers. So, I say no to black or dark grey. My rental last week was dark grey with the dark grey interior, and I found it outright depressing. I think it also cloaked me on the road as a gravel truck barrelled himself right out in front of me in a great cloud of dust. I missed hitting the truck, but the incident confirmed that I have become accustomed to driving something with some color to it and feeling more visible. The perfect combination would be light green on a plug-in with government rebates...Still hoping.
I'm buying a 2011 Prius and I've narrowed my choice down to 1. Ribbon Blue without sunroof or 2. Barcelona Red with sunroof. Both are coming into local dealers shortly. Would these both be considered darker colors and high maintenance, or do you think one would be easier to maintain?
Well based on what people have said on this thread, it seems silver and white are the easiest colors to maintain. I will probably stick to my original choice and get a silver. Thanks btw to everyone for chipping in this has been very helpful!
And speaking of blue, anyone wanting to see the new Clearwater Blue Metallic can see it in person on the 2012 Camry, currently showing up on dealers lots (at least on the left coast).
The ones they will not sell us I wish for a bright flame red, screaming zonkers yellow or plumb crazy (remember those old 60's-70's mopar colors.) I have the silver,(does not quickly show dust) but wish for a more sporty color selection, the darker colors are a little to drab for my taste.
Iceberg Silver Metallic. I was in Japan and fell in love with that color. When Toyota announced that 2 new colors will be introduced for 2012 models, I was hoping one of them would be Iceberg Silver Metallic. But instead we get Sea Green and Clearwater Blue Metallic If I have to choose a color in the states, Blizzard Pearl White.
I went with silver. I sort of wanted blue- but made the mistake of telling my GF that I used to have dreams as a kid of losing control of a blue car. She forbid me form getting blue. I was pretty underwhelmed by all the Prius colors. I thought the Mazda 3 silvers and greys were much nicer. Prius for some reason is just rather bland with their colors- maybe because they aren't very metallic?
Everyone knows Barcelona Red is the fastest color and gets the best mileage...DUH! It's also the best looking.....
I thought Gen 2, through 2009 The magnetic Grey was awesome. But Toyota changed it for the Gen 3, and now it looks flat and too blue. So now I don't really have a "favorite color". I'm tired of 'Blizzard White". I thought it was overdone a year ago. Colors go through cycles and White is popular right now...but I obstinately have an aversion to popular trends. I think Toyota's color offerings a bit stifled. Even though I like the older, I might still go with Gray or Black....maybe silver or blue....
