I recently bought a 2006 model German Prius. According to the Owner's Manual, the headlights should turn off when turning off the car, regardless of how the light switch is positioned. However, if I set the headlights to on, the main headlights do turn off, but the small white lights next to them, and the red lights on the back remain on - apparently indefinitely. I also get a continuous buzzer when leaving the lights on and opening the door. Ideally, I would like to leave the light switch on permanently, since I often forget turning it on when turning on the car. The (very annoying) buzzer and the fact that some lights remain on prevent me from doing this. I'd be very grateful if someone knows a way to reprogram these headlight settings.
Try opening the door after ignition is off. The lights turn off when you open the door to get out. Hal
The main headlights turn off when I turn off the vehicle. However, the small white lights above them remain on, as do the red lights around back. These lights remain on when opening the door, when locking the door from the outside, and they stay on for more than 30 second. I don't know if they'll eventually turn off or not, since I don't have the guts to leave them on overnight. And there's the annoying you-forgot-to-turn-off-the-lights-buzzer. Suggestions?
