Why should they? Toyota uses blue letters in Hybrid badges on the sides and in the logo of all their hybrid cars (Toyota & Lexus). Other car companies could have picked a different color, but chose to follow the same blue theme! Hyundai - Bluedrive Mercedes - BlueEfficiency VW - BlueMotion. Etc... Honda has blue color integrated in the grill design of the 2012 Civic hybrid.
As I understand it, blue is the "eco" color in Japan. In the U.S.A, it is green. While I would have preferred the green on my Sandy Beach Metallic, I actually don't give it a second thought any more. Well, until just now...
I really like the emblem on my black '11. Though, I don't like the blue fading into black inside the emblem. Solid blue would be cooler.
Yeah, at this point it doesn't seem to make sense to remind Toyota that "most" people don't like the blue emblems; since your poll seems to show that more people like them compared to don't like them. So Toyota may know better than you. Still early to say though...
I don't mind the blue, but I absolutely hate how large the emblems are. Really, does it have to be big enough to serve a freaking meal on?
I don't think it is big at all. The experts can correct me on this. Cars that are equipped with DRCC and Pre-collision, the functioning radar is directly behind the Logo.
OK, I give! I changed my statement from "most" to "some" and added the word "big". Try not to take this too seriously people, its just aesthetics! If I was that worried about it, I would have changed my own car emblems a long time ago! That said, I'm still right of course.
The first thing I did when I got my new Prius home was to remove the blue/black background from the front and rear Toyota emblems. On the front, I put a white (blizzard pearl) blank behind the front emblem. I just couldn't get use to the factory look on the front. It looked like a pimple on the end of the nose. Keith
Taking delivery of my Sandy Beach IV on Tuesday and the emblem will be green before next weekend. Good thread and nice to know that it's an easy fix! If you don't like it, change it.
I know this was mentioned earlier in the thread, but I parked next to a Hyundai Sonata Hybrid yesterday. The grille badge was a oval with the Hyndai "H" surrounded by a bright blue background. I was going to snap a quick pic but the owners were walking up and did not want to seem weird.
i really don't think our polls or complains will change the blue emblem... in reality, it's a giant marketing... uh... standard... for toyota and lexus. all hybrid models get the blue badge... then other makers followed... they will probably never change it... at least not for a handful of years... the majority of their cars would have to be hybrid before they decided to badge them as the normal colorless badge. basically... you'll have to see commercials for toyota and lexus saying they are a hybrid only company.. then they'll change it.. OR.... they start releasing a lot of EV's and they want to take that badge color... highly unlikely IMO
Neither do I. For a while people were claiming manufacturers would start doing much more customization of otherwise mass produced products, even cars, thanks to computerization of the machinery. Doesn't seem to have panned out yet. Be nice if the car makers would adopt a more modular and customizable approach to everything about their cars. For awhile, Scion was sort of going in that direction in a limited way.
