Is there a place to buy a cubby subwoofer/enclosure?

Looks like it fits well! Did you cut a short piece of the 12ga. to loop your voice coils?

My amp has a single subwoofer channel, so I just connected the wire directly to the speaker as it is factory preconfigured for 2Ohm. Some people with 2 subwoofer channels may remove the bridges from the speaker and run each voice coil independently.

Finally I got the whole audio system set along with partial sound deadening. I've replaced front and rear speakers and installed the amplifier. Took two and a half days :)

All I can say (and I have been listening to good systems for many years), my system now sounds INCREDIBLE! It is not even the same car as it was before - it is something totally different.

As this thread is about the subwoofer enclosure, I am not going to talk about other components (will open separate thread soon with many photos I took, just follow the links in my signature) but about subwoofer and amazing work Tim did to create it.

So, I went with Hertz that I put inside the custom made fiberglass enclosure Tim (mgb4tim) built for me. The enclosure fits well inside the right cubby hole, it is well balanced so even with sharp turns it is not moving out - no straps required to hold it on position. Tim put some carpet on the bottom which helps.

The subwoofer is producing very tight and punchy bass (due not only to thick walls of the enclosure but also to the speaker). I'll post more pictures and comments in a few days as I have to spend some time adjusting the system, but without any doubt I can definitely and highly recommend this enclosure to everybody.

Thanks again, Tim, you did a great job!!! :)

The one pictured on my site, carpeted, recessed mount is $250, plus actual shipping-$30 less without the recessed mount. Only $100-200 cheaper than a local shop would charge, but you are with out your car for one less day since they don't have to make the box with your car in their shop.

The back shell only is $110, plus actual shipping, leaving your local shop to add the face. Again, they won't need to mask off your trunk to make it, just add the face. They will appreciate that.

    This is the back shell:

Cool! Then I must want a completed one! Just let me know when, where, and how you want your money!! Amazing!! I'll prob buy one of those subwoofers like was shown a number of posts back in the video, if that lets you know how the fiberglass recessed/not recessed thing needs to be! Not quite sure what that means... Recessed is better, in terms of me not puncturing the speaker accidentally with things being hauled in the back, but a person might not be able to do that with that specific subwoofer.. (just talking off the top of my head, cause all this is Greek to me! lol)

There's room on the left side, also? For some reason, I had it in my head that there was the most room on the right side only.... Maybe there's ENOUGH room on BOTH sides, but there's just MORE room on the RIGHT side. Don't forget to let me know about paying you when the time is appropriate! Thanks!

I don't know if a 10" will fit on the left side. One that was posted was 8".

Sorry, my mistake. It is not exactly the same color as interior, but it is still light gray and IMO looks great.

P.S. I am very happy with new subwoofer and whole upgrade, it made HUGE difference that even my dear wife that usually opposes such a spending appreciate :) Without subwoofer, even high end set of speakers in dynamated doors doesn't sounds good.

I have one in the mold, can only add layers twice a day, or it shrinks. When that piece is done, I'll...

    • Contact the three who have contacted me to see who has selected their sub -and start the face of the one who responds first.
    • start another in the mold while I work the face of the first, and hopefully have speaker details for the second...
    • and, so on...
    • then, eventually start the plug/mold process for the other side
