I am trying to look for a new car and hopefully getting a prius two. I went to a few dealers so far, most of them around my area would ask for sticker price or give me up to 1000 dollars discount off the msrp. However today i went to Hillside, NJ, there was a dealer that offered 21,000 for a prius two brand new 2011, including all fees except like taxes and such. I am on the fence, not too sure if the price can go down any more or should i just take his offer (considering its at the point of the year where new models are coming out so prices of 2011 models should, in theory, drop, but by how much i do not know).
Looking at a resource like truecar.com you will find that 21,000 for a brand new 2011 model 2 is a solid deal. The prices MIGHT drop in a few months.. but keep in mind a lot of the dealers might stop stocking the 2011's in prep for the 2012s meaning your choices could be less. I know that IF i was offerred that price I would grab at it. Its a pretty good deal for a great car. The only reason im waiting is for the conference in SanFran and to see what the 2012s might bring in terms of new features. Good Luck!
I am hoping to be purchasing in the next few weeks and will be happy, happy, happy, if I can get that price! I am seeing "$799-1000 over invoice" but the time they add advertising fees and documentation fees, the prices magically gets back to mfrs. suggested price! Good luck!
the dealer was route 22 toyota. It is in hillside, NJ. The sales i talked to was lewis (or luis). the conversation pretty much was like... how much for prius? 24k too expensive, got a used one? yes... 10k miles 2010 prius 2 for 21k. What price are you looking for? I was looking for about 20k for a new one hm... the best i can do is 21k for the new prius 2011 if u buy it now and i said i will think about it and kinda left just thinking if i missed a great deal. sad face. I will prob pick one up if i can talk to them again and get the same price on monday (sundays closed)
are you planning to finance? or pay it in cash? the reason i asked, is if you're financing the whole purchase.. a difference of 30-80/month can get you in to a Three or Four. something to think about.
well I called about the 21000 and they said that was a base. The prius 2 with floormats was 24,400. Let that sink in. I did and then asked what was added to the base model to get 24,400 she said floormats. She also said that I could try and order it more stripped down but that's not the was Toyota was selling them. We went back and forth but the price before ttl was 24,400 I would call this very misleading. She was also a little condescending implying I should look at the website and do some research on it
I called too and this is a complete con. First of all even the Prius II listed on their web site for 23K, they claim does not include the destination charge and its really 24K. I'd stay away.
I call BS on the $21000 price for a new 2011 base Prius Two (nothing extra). Invoice is $23274 & the AAA price is $23774. IF you really can get a new Prius for $21000 you should write that check faster than the speed of light. In the worst of times a Prius was not that cheap. It's got to be a demo, or used, or something's wrong with it. Was it sitting in the Hackensack, Delaware or Passaic River?
checked back 2day but yea.. essentially all they said was brushed me off and give me excuses like "u didn't take it so u won;t get it any more" etc etc
Guys. What happened to the promise of dropping prices. Where are the deals. I'm seeing dealers still bumping prices above msrp. Who has the best deals?
Rob, I see that nonsense and roll my eyes too. No one on the dealer end's promising dropping prices. We all know cars are tightening up again. And, we know there's some stiff competition for parts to build these with new product coming like the v wagon, the c and the PHEV. My best deal right now for a II is $22,995 on a II with mats, no other no options. Di
Was that out the door or before tax + license ? I just bought mines 3 weeks ago for $22,533.72 + tax + license = $24,799 out the door. Car had 2 miles on it and no trade in, not a lease. Great deal......
