Prius II Upgrade to HID

The cheaper HIDs run about $30 (DDM Tuning). The better kits are around $150 (TheRetrofitSource). You can safely run the cheap kit but beware that the cheap bulbs may vary in color regardless of what they say they are rated at Kelvin wise.

Why do you want to color match your high beams?

 

The low beam and high beam was one HID bulb . There was a bulb shield that moved to all high beam operation.

 

Well I'm getting my morimoto kit next week from retro and can't wait . especially since the car has projectors in there and no mod require ..yay !! and fog lights coming soon i hope ..

 

Nice! Good choice on the kit. The OEM Prius projectors work well. They are not quite as good as the other OEMs or even the FX-R but if I had a 2010+ Prius I'd just get the HID kit and call it a day. Like you did.

Please get pictures of before and after if you can. Use a nice blank wall.

 

thanks for reminding me.. i'm at a wall now .. i got the fog lights in yeah !! now the morimoto 3five kit that i got is getting my brain going.. the harness needs to be connected to the battery and the tip that it has is a horseshoe like U for both neg and pos connection. The neg can go to the frame but isn't the pos suppose to be like a blade connection that can go into fuse box?? Especially since the fog light has the red wire going in there. How did you guys route the harness? Looks like gonna have to be front end ..not firewall side. Also what did you guys do with the test leads on the bulbs? thanks again .. i will call up retrofit in morning ..

 

I used the positive terminal connection inside the fuse box (under the hood) for the red wire and I simply used one of the radiator support screws for the black wire. It worked fine for me. I routed the harness wires across the radiator support then covered it all up with the plastic shield that covers that area.
