Fixing gas milage deteriation in 2007 Prius

    In my 2008 the gas mileage started dropping at 60k, it went from 48 to 43-44 until the inverter coolant pump went out at 67k. With the new inverter pump, it's back up to 48.

    I recently had a similar problem with my 2007 Prius. The mileage was down to about 44 mpg for about three months. I brought it back up to about 53 mpg by simply removing excess oil. I removed the oil by removing and replacing the oil filter without replacing the oil it contained. The dipstick went from about 1/2 inch above the full mark to just below the full mark. Check your oil--it makes a big difference.
