    Tire weight varies on average by about 3lbs.. Switching from a the lightest 15" tire (about 17lbs) to the heaviest 17" tire (about 22lbs) can add 5lbs. or more.

    5 out of the 10 you save is huge especially if you consider the added rolling resistance from the wider tire...

    It's almost certain to cancel any gains made especially if you're not doing much stop and go. (Damn those stop signs :))

    edit : any idea on how much the oem 15 inchers weigh in at ?

    Don't forget that wheels and tires are unsprung weight (not supported by the suspension) and unsprung weight is multiplied by 4. So if you ad 1 pound, you're adding 4 pounds.
