Hey everyone! Just wanted to share my excitement with you all! I am a first-time prius owner, long time wannabe owner! I drove a Yaris sedan for 4 years and decided to trade it in since it's paid off to knab a Prius since I am in LOVE with the redesigned Prii Gen 3. I bought a new 2011 Prius III model, black, with side decals and Navi package on Labor Day last week. I absolutely love it. Attached pictures. Any advice for a newbie prius driver? I did look into hypermiling techniques for the Prius and will utilize that. Excited to be part of the PriusChat family!
Welcome to the forum and to Prius ownership. My advice is to drive you car and get familiar with it. For driving techniques, spend some time read old posts on the forum. There's a lot of great info on this site. Also read you manual. Surprisingly, it actually does have so good stuff in it. There's a PDF version you can download in one of the threads here on this site. I like it because it's searchable. The 2010 version is the same as yours.
We just ordered the exact same one......Do you love it??? :cheer2: We also chose the navigation package. Ours wont be here for a few weeks so I need to live vicariously through others.
Hi wehrlebird! Yes - I LOVE IT. I really lucked out - there weren't many black ones in Columbus, let alone with Navigation/JBL (my 2 requirements) and the dark interior; all the other black ones available in Columbus either didn't have Navi/JBL or had the light tan colored looking interior. I think my favorite thing about this car is that driving is an experience now, not just a drive - I love the "cockpit" feel of the Gen III, and I'm not nearly as intimidated by other cars when driving the Prius - the way the hatchback is and view from the front, if someone is tailgating me, it's not nearly as annoying as it was in the Yaris. And now I'm encouraged to take scenic city routes because of the good MPGs and I set the cruise control at the speed limit in the right lane (no more speeding for me!) and let the speeders pass me while I enjoy the ride and solid MPGs - I never get anxiety now while driving or road rage! If someone pulls out in front of me, I glide and smile because they're giving me better MPGs! LoL! Definitely a BIG plus I did not anticipate in this car but love the experience of driving it and the changes it has made in my driving behavior.
I like those lower door moldings, especially on a black car. I wonder what they would look like on blizzard pearl. They look Lexus-like. One of my co-workers think flames would look cool on a black Prius - in an incongruent way. Did your local Columbus dealer throw in some OSU football memorabilia, tickets, or tattoos? Sorry, couldn't resist. (UofM MBA, '99)
Hey gang... Just got me a black Prius III myself. Do you all know where I may be able to get a corner door protector (driver side)? I keep snagging my garage foundation when I open my door (bottom corner)... Thanks much for any info.
