I've read through a lot of the center cap posts and also decided to get the cheap electric box caps from Lowe's. I'm surprised I haven't seen this option before, but I noticed that the Toyota logo comes off of the hub caps. After cutting the tabs off I tested gluing one to a Lowe's center cap with Gorilla Glue. After about an hour drying I tested how secure it was. It doesn't sit flush, but is still very secure. I put one of these on the front right wheel to see if it would withstand a drive. 55 miles later, and after a big downpour I can report that the logo is still there and very secure. Just another cheap option. What do you guys think?
Funny you mention this, it is exactly what I did. I used a glue gun, but want to buy something a little heavier to secure the logo to the seal. I plan on selling the hubcaps on ebay.
You may be able to get the small Circle-T emblems from a local hubcap shop and keep your OEM wheel covers in pristine condition... and at no cost to you! A while back I wanted a few of the smallest Circle-T badges from the earlier Toyoya wheel covers. I waited patiently to find one of the correct wheel covers on the side of the road... but after 2 or 3 months I was getting more than a little frustrated. Then I passed a used/abused hubcap shop and a light went on! In the shop I discovered that a whole wheel cover would cost $25. Then I asked if I could buy just the emblem. The desk person reached down and brought out a coffee cup full of different sized Circle-T emblems that they routinely removed from wheel covers that were too badly scuffed/cracked to resell. They offered as many as I wanted for free. For as much as I wanted them, and to reward premier customer service, I gave them $1 apiece. The transaction was completed with both parties more than happy. :cheer2:
It's been over 500 miles and the Gorilla Glue has held strong. My test period is over; I'll do the same with the remaining 3 wheels. Anybody else try it?
