Hi everyone.... I am driving a Prius Gen III (without Nav). I have a problem with the sensitivity of the mic whenever I use my BT handsfree to make or receive a call. I have googled as well as searched this forum but have not found any solution to this problem. Does anyone know how to adjust the sensitivity of the mic? Thanks a million! Cheers!
Edit: sorry--just noticed you don't have nav. Here you go: [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-gwQpvpYVYg"]2010 Toyota Prius Bluetooth microphone volume adjustment‏ - YouTube[/ame]
I had the same problem with my Gen III 2010 without Nav. As long as the air conditioning was off and windows up, I could be heard by callers. In Mississippi in the summer having the air off is not an option. I researched extensively and was told there is no fix. I ended up buying a Parrot bluetooth device. I have a new Gen III 2011 without Nav and have had no problems with the mic volume. Toyota and the dealerships totally deny this has been a problem with anyone.
Thanks for your reply. I read somewhere in this forum that the low sensitivity or bad mic reception may not be Toyota's fault BUT a fault with the cellphone you use. I am using a BlackBerry and understand that BlackBerry's bluetooth connection is not as loud as others. Anyway, I am just hoping that someone knows how to increase the sensitivity of the mic in the Prius. Thanks anyway. Guess I will just have to try another cellphone.
We have a 2011 Model 3. My wife has a Verizon Samsung Fascinate. No problems with talking or listening.
Sounds like you maybe getting air crossing into the mic element with AC on and windows open. I have confirmed that I have this issue with AC on high. I dont think these stock mic systems have a very good noise cancellation feature. I am going to see what minor mods can be done to avoid air hitting the mic element. Easiest thing is probably putting a piece of clear tape over the microphone area. The other option is opening up the panel assembly where the mic is and sliding a piece of foam in front of the mic.
It is not a problem with ur phone.. It is a problem with the mic volume.. I had an Acura tl before with Bluetooth and have the same phone.. Never had problems with volume until I got the prius.. I'm going to try that video since I have navi..
Toyota is at fault for the low mic senitivity Phones is probably fine . They will not and I say will not address this issue .toyota is very much aware .
Update!! Apparently, the bad call quality may be due to the cellphone used by the person at the other end. I have made many calls using the Prius handsfree since and am glad to report that almost everyone I have called has confirmed that the call quality is superb.
It is not the cell phone.. I used the EXACT same phone in my old Acura.. It is a lexus/toyota thing.. I tested my phone in her is250, then in my prius.. and my 04 Acurea TL still had better reception.. I tested all of them all in the SAME day.
80% of the time it the phone. what you may not know is bluetooth is NOT a standard protical (sp?) i may expand on this when not on the train. try google half-duplexing wireless signals.
Unfortunately, no. You can use a scangauge ($160ish) or take it to a dealer who might do it (and the seat belt chime) for free.
