Has anyone ever noticed their Prius seems to look long and narrow on some ocasions and short stubby on others? I find when its sitting in a large parking lot and I see the full side view it looks really great. Even better from other views, but look at it before morning coffee and Wth?
Oddly enough, I agree with you. Sometimes it looks to be about the size of a Camry, but other times it looks as it's the size of a Honda Fit.
Insert "Transformers" Joke here. It's an optical illusion, I think created by the perspectives formed by the wedge shaped aerodynamic outline of the body. Unless you actually catch it spring up and take a robotic humanoid form.
yes indeed, I have seen this on several occasions as well. Looks long and lean in late afternoon, early evenings, but the earlier in the morning it is, you get that stubby look. Once, late at night, I saw it blink at me while it was parked in the yard, just a little flash of the front parking lights, might have been a little wink & a smiley smirk. I had another drink and went back to bed.
....mine changes color. It is silver during the day and at night when it is dark out it looks black. It might be changing shapes then too? If that is the case, is it safe to drive it?
And don't drink and drive. But then hard to tell people not to do it on weekend, specially this long weekend.
You are absolutly right,Prius looks great in full side-view but if you look at it from a different angle then it can look ugly wich ist due to the dome-shaped roof design of the car ! German car journals try to use this fact to make the Prius look as ugly as possible when compared with german cars !
My Prius appears to change shape too. It has to do with whether I'm looking at it from the side or the end.

May be some time happen, car looks different from different angle. Like you see the car from front and see from upper side definitely it look different.
i like the looks of the prius, but did you ever notice that white at certain distances, doesn't look like a prius? you have to do a double take. the other colors don't have that illusion?
I've taken alot of pictures of my car and like most cars, I find the 3/4 view from front or rear best. The full side view is ok but not my favorite. Here are some pics that illustrate my point. Two of the pics are before lowering.
