So I finally got my system in my PRIUS. Im using a kenwood x995 [ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Head_unit"]head unit[/ame]. This thing is awesome it has built in blue tooth also I integrated the audio controls on my steering wheel and added USB and 3MM head phone jacks flush mounted for the unit. Next is my amp which it a Rockford fossegate 1500bd power model this is pushing out 1100 watts to about 1800. Then I got a kinetik 1800 amp high current battery. Matched with the "BEAST" a Hertz 15" SLP Show SX380D 1,000 watts RMS to 4,000 peak. Which is in a custom box I think its about 4 1/2 cubic square feet which makes it hit harder. This system hits so hard my windshield shakes violently lol if you have any questions please feel free to ask and tell me what u think about my system....:)

I'll guess over 100 lbs. I ran 2 12" Diamond Audio D6 subs in a box half that size and the package weighed 96 lbs.

Is the blue battery an extra battery and do you plan on securing it?

i don't get WHY they said it couldn't be done.

for all the people who ask why.. it's clarity. you really don't have to turn it up.. and most likely, you don't hear it outside of the car unless it's actually up a little.

i hope you put something under the license plate so it doesn't rattle like the rest... good luck trying to get the rear wind to stop rattling though...

(i burnt up my amp... i'll get new stuff eventually)

what i've noticed is that all the sound really does escape from the floor panels... some door but mostly it's floor panel. if you turn the volume so you can just barely hear it outside, and then listen under the car, you'll see it's much louder under the car.

i was worried for a second about the high voltage to 12v inverter... but then i realized i've put plenty of abuse on mine with the inverter hooked up...

if you're battery and the oem are hooked up together, you'll burn out the oem because it's not designed to keep up with your new battery (designed for a 4.5 amp charge or something like that)

if you drain down your new 12v battery & oem 12v (it probably will faster than you hoped for)... and the car has to catch up with the load... things are going to heat up.. a lot.. you may notice the hybrid battery fan kicking on pretty regularly... state of charge drop... gas mileage drop... etc.

if you go over 1000 watts (12v battery partly depleted)... you may trip the car off. literally.. it will switch off... or cycle power.

if you're ever sitting and it seems the engine is coming on a lot and fans are going wild... i'd recommend opening the hood so the inverter and engine can properly breath.

btw, if you ever come to los angeles, i wanna hear it :)

As do I... about which dear wife opines, "Those speakers are unintelligible. Why don't you get new ones?"

I took that as virtually license to suspend redoing the dining room and tear into the Prius :)

But in your case, seems like an awful lot of effort below 100Hz... while ignoring the rest.
