I'm hoping someone may have had a similar issue and figured a fix. Already searched the forums and found nothing.

So I got my unit last week and connected no problem. used witha Nano and it worked great. Then i tried to connect a 40 gig model that I bought last christmas. No sound came from it. As a matter of fact the unit got stuck on one track and it did nothing.

I figured it could have been an Firmware issue. Next I plugged the Nano on and nothing, no sound came from it. I was able to get tracks and a read on songs but still no sound. Anyone had a similar issue?

    Thanks

I've never heard of this problem. With the Prius off, unplug the Vais from the cable. Power the car and cycle through the modes. Power down the car and hook the Vais up and power back up and see if it works.

Try resetting the iPod also, press and hold the play and menu.

I had this problem with my Nano immediate after installing - everything seemed to work but no sound. A few hours later at home I tried the extra inputs (Aux) with a different MP3-player which worked. After that I gave the Nano another try and from this time everything worked. Someone else in this forum had a very similar experience.

    Greetings,

Well, maybe this is the solution:

After about 2 months of trouble-free use with my VAIS unit and my iPod Nano, I encountered pretty much the same problem.

The circumstances: Normally, my poor Nano just sits in the glove compartment, hooked up to the VAIS unit. (The worst fate for any iPod is to be owned by someone with a VAIS unit -- left alone in the glove compartment, without light or human touch. :) (Actually, the worst fate is to be an Ars Technica test subject.))

But I had to stand in line for a couple of hours to get in to see a movie at the iMax theater, so I decided to slip my Nano into my jeans pocket and listen to music while waiting for the movie.

When I returned to the car, and re-hooked the iPod up to VAIS unit, I had the same problem you describe.

    Much head scratching ensued... until...

The solution: With the Nano in my pocket, I hadn't wanted music to be interrupted if my leg movement caused pressure on the iPod click wheel. So... I had turned the Hold Switch on. (The little switch on the top of the Nano that inhibits changes from the click wheel (I think).)

My reaction: Doh! :D Switching the Hold Switch off returned the iPod and VAIS to their happy (if secluded) marriage.

I thought others might encounter this problem at some point.
