Drove Prius PlugIn for nine weeks. Great experience. Plug in location not a problem in front of driver's door. My test drive extended to 1800 miles. MPG: 64.5. EV mpde 24%, 76% Hybrid. Cost per mile was a whopping 4.2 cents ! I do know a lot about the PHV now, and am major fan. Registered to get one in CA when they rollout in 2012. Roy Boyer, Boulder CO 8/25/11

Well Toyota themselves said "is equipped with a charger plug outlet ahead of the front door and the distinctive logo is located on the lid of the outlet." for those that are curious about where the final location will be. I'm sure they kept it plain so they didn't have to say driver's door on left or front. Lots of details to be released yet

Ok, no new Prius Plug-in leaked information this week!

So, 128mpg UK or 107mpg US means the mpg display indicator now has 3 digits!

Indeed. 4.2 cents is 74% higher than my cost last month. :D

I haven't had much time to participate lately. That 475 mile cruising range on the PHEV sounds like a much smaller gas tank. Where have I missed this? Thanks in advance.

The demo units had a smaller gas tank due to the size of the lithium ion battery. We do not know if this will carry over to production but i would assume it will.

The size of the tank in the demo units was 10.6 gallons compared to 11.9 in the regular prius.

Probably 21 km since the speed is in km/h.

That's the logical conclusion, since 21 km is 13 miles.

    Re: Prius PHV Plug-In Updates?

Production Plug-In has a "Tree Display" showing an increase in the number of trees as you drive more "greenly".

    PHV Magazine Vol3

I don't remember seeing or hearing about this "Tree Display" in the pre-production demo model.

There are some interesting specs for the Prius plug in on the web site. The page was updated two weeks ago so I'd guess they're more or less current.

Such as they are shooting for a 30,000,000 yen for the price which works out to be around $30,000.

You're off by a decimal point. Yoshikazu Tanaka says in This Interview "3,000,000 Yen".
Today there are 77.765 Yen to the Dollar.

    3,000,000 / 77.765 = $38,577.77

Serious, $38k for the PHV? That is out of my league unless I trade in one of our summer cars.

The interview was from 2009 when the yen was around 102 per dollar so they were shooting for around 30K then
