Hey everyone! First time potential Prius owner. I've been shopping and found a 2009 Prius with 60000 miles (that's a lot, I know). It's going for 15000. The seller says he got it from an auction. What do you guys think?

I'll have it checked out at the Toyota dealership before I buy.

Blue book price is Excellent for $17,755, Good for $16,655, and Fair for $14,955. It doesn't have all the package options, but it does have JBL sound, power doors/windows, cruise, keyless ignition, fog lights, and the backup camera.

If it turns out to be in good condition, would you do it in my position?

Yes I would if Toyota certifies it! I would be concerned about it being sold by auction[salvage car?] Hal

I would not be concerned about 60k miles. I would be concerned that it was bought at auction. If it is a salvage car or a car from a flood region, I would run from it.

    Would Carfax list this information?

Carfax might give you some clues about previous damage, but I don't think Carfax is 100% infallible. If you are serious about the car, you should have an experienced (and unbiased) technician thoroughly inspect it, especially for signs of collision repair(s) and/or flood damage.

We'll see what the Toyota dealer has to say about it. Thanks for the heads up guys (and/or gals)!

you could always check car fax and autochek and compare what the two of them say about the car.
