Hey all, I've been reading these forums for a few months leading up to our purchase of our new Prius. I debated very heavily waiting for the PHV but I just couldn't convince myself I'd actually be able to get one and/or that I'd be able to get the options I wanted on it (leather / nav / sunroof). Plus, I was hoping it'd be more expensive than I wanted to pay ;-) So, we ended up getting a new Prius IV last week (nav, leather, sunroof) and I'm pretty much in love with it. Averaging about 51 MPG so far which includes some "fun" driving to show friends the Prius isn't strictly an econobox. Anyway, nothing really new to add to this. If my picture links work, you can see them below. Take care! Wes
Haha. Thanks! My wife wanted to get away from the red. She felt it made her too much of a target. Of course, that was a red Mercury Cougar she was driving. I told her it would be somewhat less likely we'd be speeding in a Prius! ;-)
Nice! But don't call it an econobox around here, or you might start rant! Also, it is a mid-size, so can't be an econobox, which are compact and smaller. Enjoy!
Thanks! Fair enough. I think some of it is a little "cheaper" from a fit and finish perspective. For instance, our other vehicle is a 2011 Outback and on the inside it is downright luxurious. Like I told my wife, however, we're paying for that HSD. It's great and the car is totally functional (love the hatchback). So yeah, I don't consider it an econobox entirely and I'm trying to dispel that belief among my friends!
I'm replacing an 07 Outback. I considered the new ones, but they are a bit too high for my wife to safely / easily transfer to from her wheelchair. Good luck with your OBW. Hope yours doesn't develop the shakes.
Nice! I'm getting the exact same car - blue Prius IV with nav, leather and sunroof in early September. Can't wait.
Yeah, they really did get a lot higher. I think it's great for the vehicle itself because it puts it nicely between wagon and crossover (we were considering a Ford Edge, at the time) but I can definitely see it being difficult to get into from a wheelchair. I've not heard of this "shakes" thing but I haven't read many forums regarding the OBW since I got her. I'll keep an eye out though. Thanks for the heads up!
Nice! Did you have any trouble deciding to pull the trigger on this car with the PHV so close to being released?
Thanks! I love your signature, by the way. It reminds me of the article below (that I'm sure has been linked around here a lot): James Woolsey - Interview - Motor Trend
Haha. Nice ;-) Thanks! You have the car I really wanted. However, the wifey didn't think $5K for the technology package was "worth it". Like you, I disagree. Heh. We compromised and got the solar roof. Still an awesome car!
Yep. I love the SR. We'll never have to get into a baking hot car again! I do wish we had the LED headlights but I just added my own HIDs.
