I have 8700 miles on mine. I've had the car for 2years and 2 months. I get gas so seldom that every once in a while I release the front hood instead of the gas cap !!!!!!!!!

Re: 2010/1 Owners With The Lowest Monthly Mileage

Bought mine 12/31/2009 - I have 4,962 miles on it. One road trip of 250miles - 51.3mpg - local driving -44.9mpg best. Prius 3 w/nav, BT, upgraded stereo, all useless to me, but were part of the pkg.

I'm visiting my folks and drove my Dad's 2010- he had 9500 miles on it - close to 3000 were from a single trip to Florida last winter.

I've had my car since August 2010 and so far have only driven it 6600 miles. My first oil change will be sometime this month.

One thing that's fun to do is to check out your Kelly Blue Book value on your low-mileage Prius. With such low mileage,11 months after I bought it it's now worth around $3500 more than I paid for it.

^Yes, I've been doing that fairly regularly lately. :D I'm presently averaging around 529 miles per month....not a patch on how little some of you are driving.

Next week I will have had my Prius for 1 year. I've still only got a little over 6600 miles, so I'm not even sure Toyota will pay for the oil change I've got scheduled for next week (my first oil change). I'm certainly not taking advantage of my 2 years/25,000 free maintenance deal! I guess I'd rather have the low mileage than all the free maintenance Toyota owes me.

^It's 10,000 miles OR one year (whichever arrives first), so you'll still get the perks to which you are entitled. ;-)

I'm up to 9255 miles now after almost 1-1/2 years of ownership, making the average approximately 545 miles per month.

I work with a guy that has a Dodge Ram pickup that's 10 years old with really low miles, something like 6K. I can see that with a weekend use vehicle that you want to show off to your fishing buddies, but a Prius is meant for every day use. Don't know why anyone would sit their Prius in favor of another car.

In my case, I work from home and use a bike as much as possible so I have the luxury of sparing my primary vehicle from typical every day use.

I have a 1966 Corvair Monza 2-door HT with 38000 miles on it. (bought it new and drove it back and forth to work every day for 11 years before I retired it). Remember when that was a small car? In today's dollars it would cost about $18000. Who says the price of a car has gone up, especially when one compares how much more car one gets today.

Got my Winter Grey Prius MArch 2011 and have just passed the 17,000km mark last week. That is 10,700miles for my american friends! Already had 2 oil change. Mostly used for my commuting to-from work and had to make lots of return trips to Montreal to visit my folks who were not feeling well and then my brother who passed away.

Considering the fuel used (824litres) to complete all this mileage is about a 1/3 of what I would had used if I had not traded in my 2003 Highlander for this car. What to say about the money saved too.

Purchased my 2010 in June 2009 and have 6250 miles on it. Had to have a new ECU installed last week. Love my Prius but was disappointed to have a problem with such low mileage on it.

^Indeed...maybe it died from lack of use? ;D

I sadly surpassed 10,000 miles today after nearly 1 year and 7 months of ownership. I'm likely up to around 550 miles per month (thank goodness for the lower fuel prices of late).

I've got approximately 16000 miles on my car and have had it for approximately 28 months. Technically that comes out 571 miles/month, but that's not totally accurate. I've taken a couple of long trips, including moving from NJ to TN shortly after buying the car. In reality it's closer to about 460-500 miles/month. Basically I fill the tank about once every month.

Since I fall off the graph for the tire rotation and oil change intervals, I've been doing the tire rotations based on mileage (q 5000 miles per the book), and the oil change based on time (every year).

Despite short trips on roads with hills and traffic lights, and not trying very hard, I still get about 51 mpg on average during the summer. I'm happy with that. I like not worrying about gas prices. Even if gas prices go up 10 cents, my cost of gas only goes up $1 considering that I never end up having to put more that 10 gallons to fill the tank. :)

12,800 trouble free miles in 17 months. We've gone on two road trips and the rest is all local running around. The Mercedes SUV it replaced got a consistant 13 mpg. Even with low miles we've saved money and have a lot more reliable vehicle.

My last service was when I had about 9K miles and many many months ago. Since, a trip to Arizona and back, etc., etc.

So my dealer sent me a letter yesterday that started something like...

"Our records indicate that your vehicle has 15,307 miles and is at another service interval., blah, blah..."

Sure enough, when I was driving to work today I looked. 15,299. That was just spooky close, or, they somehow actually know. And I don't want to know how they know.

I have a 2010 Prius that I purchased in August of 2010. My mileage is still low at 11,400 and the Kelly Blue Book value to sell privately is still more than what I paid (by about $500). My Prius is doing better than some of my retirement investments! I think at this rate though, I'm most concerned that my battery won't live as long as the rest of the car.
