I put down a deposit on a Winter Grey Prius 2 today and plan on taking delivery later this week. It's got a total of 1 mile on the odometer and still has the protective film on the hood and trunk. I've already asked them to make sure the reverse beep is disabled. Is there anything else I should put on their punch list before I sign? Anything I should pay special attention to before taking the car?
If you can, get an owners manual from the dealer and check out all the custom options you can make (unlocking all doors instead of one , lowering the sound level of the seat belt beep, etc) Then tell the dealer what settings you want before you sign the final papers. After that the best advice I've heard is to just get in and drive it, read the owners manual cover to cover and enjoy your new toy.......welcome!:high5:
I'd also recommend considering having the headlights turn off "immediately", rather than after 30 seconds. I wish I'd done that - maybe next time I visit the dealer... ...in two or three years.
Is this section of the owners manual available for download so I can review in advance? Good one. I'll add it to my list. Thnx.
Welcome aboard and enjoy your new ride soon! When you get it home, pump those tires up, they will be low from the dealer.
Is 'Time elapsed before lights turn off - 15sec (default)' the interior lighting? If not... What's the difference between that and 'Time elapsed before headlights automatically turn off after doors are closed?'
Thanks for the warm welcome everyone! What tire pressure does everyone recommend to maximize fuel efficiency?
With the gen III I use 42 front and 40 back. As a fellow Brooklynite I just want to let you know I NEVER see the kinda mileage people round here talk about so don't be shocked when your numbers are lower.
You might try 42-40, but you should balance the mileage improvement with your own comfort cause more tire pressure=stiffer ride. Me, I'm at 39-37 but I have a tender tush. Just don't exceed the max cold pressure listed on the tire sidewall!
Good to know. I don't plan on doing a ton of driving but I'm curious to see what kind of mileage I can really get. Thanks for the warning. Sounds good. I'll play around with it and see what suits my needs best. Thnx guys
