Let's see how different the production version will look yet again...

I think it will use A123 battery so it can accelerate faster without liquid cooling.

The profile looks like a Prius (especially like the concept pic in my avator) and some Honda Clarity in it.

The profile looks a lot like the Hyundai Sonata.

If GM balanced by also offering something actually targeted for middle-market, that would be different. Instead, we only get another config destined to be low-volume.

January 2007. That's when the "leap frog" boasting began. Volt would be far superior to Prius, becoming the new standard for the mainstream.

August 2011. The technology used in Volt, way beyond affordable for the mainstream already, pushes even further into being a niche by offering something even more expensive.

With respect to niche market and not affordable to the average person, I see a lot of similarity with the Corvette. Niche market and not affordable to the average person.

It will be interesting to see where the Cadillac fits in.

the Volt is gonna be bad enough when the battery runs out, and you are basically trying to run a car approximately the size of a Camry with a 1.4 liter motor. It's bad enough on the Cruze even with the turbo, would not want to guess what it would be like running like a chainsaw on a Caddy.

It looks nice, real nice, but it's a concept. Wake me if it's ever released.

Looks like a rework of a CTS Coupe - what I'd like as my next car ;)

They should have went Cadillac first. Then there wouldn't have been the sticker shock, and low volumes expected. Once they are able to ramp up, they then could offer a more stripped down Chevy version.

Caddi first would not have drawn many cruze sales. Its not all about the complaining on prius chat.

The cadillac announcement is just a confirmation of what we already knew. The interesting thing will be if they add more power.

The good news is that if this concept ever comes to be - within 8 or 9 years later these caddies will be in the ghetto ... providing (hopefully) cleaner transportation to the less fortunate. Yep, talk about loss in resale . . .

Volt is actually heavier than Equinox SUV.

As I recall, the only time a Chevy was ported to Cadillac they got the Cimerron, a rebadged Chevette. Will the Caddy crowd buy a rebadged Chevy plug in hybrid over Tesla's Model S EV? We'll see.

    Really.
Does four pounds make any difference when all parties discussed are one and half tons plus?

It may be a wash but the fact that Volt weights virtually the same as Equinox SUV is an eye opener. It raises the question of being green. It runs on electricity but it weights as much as Equinox SUV. If it is wasteful, is it green?

Cadillac ELR is just going to weight more, not less.
