I don't see anything strange about comparing a $25k Prius to a $110k Fisker Karma. As long as you are doing the same comparison of a $110k Fiskar to a $1,700K Bugatti Veyron, that is. Where do they get that the Karma gets 67 mpg, though? (Perhaps it's just the gas equivalent of EV operation.)

EV's are becoming more acceptable these days and celebs are a great example of how far the green wave can reach. I personally like Ed Begley's truck. The fact that Leo Dicaprio could in fact buy any car he chooses, but yet opts for a Prius. Luckily, in California, there are no shortage of stations.
