I loved my 07 Prius, but thanks to an idiot in a Dodge Ram, it is now totaled in a junk yard. I've salvaged many items from it, which I plan to install in my 2010 Prius replacement. One of which is the homelink mirror, but I'll need a new wiring harness for it. I've searched and searched online, but can't find a harness or a part #. Does anyone know where I can buy the harness or have a part # for it? Thank you!
Unfortunately I don't know about getting a new harness... I added the Toyota homelink mirror to my 2010, but the kit I got included both the harness and the mirror. Do you still have access to your 07? If so, I'd sugest just taking that harness and extending the wires above the headliner.
the harness is just for power, all the operations for the homelink are in the mirror. all you need is 12V.
Toyota wouldn't sell the wiring harness separate from the mirror, but I got one from Subaru without any problem for $13. Now, I'll just have to tap the wires in. Only problem now is that the wires are not clearly labeled on the Subaru model. Two wires are black, one black w/ white stripe. Anyone know which wire is which? If you have a Gen II with a homelink mirror, you could really help me out! Just let me know the wire colors and pin locations on your plug on the back of your mirror. You could also just take a photo and post it. From what I'm reading on other posts, Toyota stock wiring harness (which Toyota won't sell me) has all of the wires clearly colored.
the blk/w is the ground, you can tap the 12V line power from the dome light since the switch in the door is looking for a ground there is power there all the time, at least thats how mine seems to be wirred.
I bought a home link rear view mirror with auto-dimming feature from a junk yard in MA, and I am going to fit it on my '10 Prius with the sunroof / solar panel. The first problem is the "foot" on the mirror is not the same as the foot on the car - so I will have to take it to a windshield shop to have the foot changed. The second is the wiring. The '10 with sunroof + solar is not compatible with this mirror. The homelink / auto-dimming mirror is not even listed as an option on this car. But, that shouldn't stop me from trying - right? There are three wires on the mirror: 1 - solid red (+12v power?) 1 - solid black (Ground?) 1 - white w/ black stripe I am assuming the solid red is +12v - and I assume it should be switched on and off with the car (correct?). I assume this powers the home link. I also assume the solid black is ground - and should be permanently connected to a solid chassis ground (a screw or bolt anchored in the metal frame). What is the white with black stripe? Is this ground? +12v? Switched / always on? Auto-dimmer?
ticedoff8, any luck? I also got hit by a Dodge Ram about a month ago and just bought an '11 with solar. I am missing my homelink mirror like nobodies business. Since I'm not skilled at all, I figured I'd purchase the mirror somewhere (junkyard?) and pay someone who knows what they're doing to install it.
