I have 2005 prius that has enough refrigerant inthe sysstem but will not turn on the compresor. I check the voltage coming out of the inverter going into the compressor and it is only 25 v. Any ideas on what to check next? Do i need to check the inverter.
I suggest that you download the repair manual info at techinfo.toyota.com as there is a very long list of items to check when cool air is not produced: refrigerant volume and pressure, pressure switch circuit, the inverter, the AC amplifier, to list a few. DTC may be produced by the AC amplifier, and if you have your Toyota dealer retrieve those codes then you'll have a better idea regarding what might be wrong. The AC voltage from the inverter to the compressor should be in the 200V+ range.
did you pull a vacuum before putting refrigerant? if theres moisture in the system the A/C will not turn on due to sensors in the line. Did you try jumping the pressure switch?
